Del Taco Activates Project Del Sunrise Roadmap With All-New Catering Platform

September 04, 2026 // Franchising.com // LAKE FOREST, Calif. – Del Taco is introducing a catering option beginning Thursday, September 3. The initiative is part of Project Del Sunrise, and provides guests with a more direct way to place Del Taco catering orders. The program also introduces Taco Salads to the catering menu and folds the brand into workplace lunches, meetings, celebrations and other group occasions. Project Del Sunrise was announced earlier this year as a strategic roadmap to strengthen restaurant performance, and to guide ongoing initiatives.

As part of the revamped catering experience, guests can now explore and place catering orders through the Del Taco website. Previously, guests were directed to a third-party ordering platform. The new first-party experience gives Del Taco and its restaurants greater ownership of the catering relationship and creates a better way for guests to discover and order from the expanded menu. The change also provides new back-of-house tools for Del Taco operators to manage and deploy their catering orders.

“Our menu works extremely well for group orders, and our catering relaunch supports an improved sales channel for our restaurants and franchise partners, while creating a significant opportunity to be part of occasions where Del Taco has historically had a limited presence,” said Ulyses Camacho, Chief Transformational Officer of Del Taco. “Catering was one of several key areas identified as part of Project Del Sunrise, and this relaunch is another example of turning strategy into action.”

The expanded catering menu offers a range of options for individual meals and larger groups, including tacos, Epic Burritos and now, Taco Salads. Guests can choose from Individual Meals featuring tacos, Epic Burritos or Taco Salads; Burrito Boxes with Classic or Epic Burritos; and a Buffet Style Taco Kit with a choice of proteins. Taco Salads are available with Seasoned Beef, Grilled Chicken or Carne Asada Steak, giving groups another customizable option alongside Del Taco’s signature tacos and burritos.

“Project Del Sunrise was initiated to find new avenues to grow the business and give guests more reasons to choose Del Taco,” Camacho added. “Catering is another important piece of that strategy, allowing us to bring the Del Taco experience into more moments that bring people together.”

The catering relaunch is the first step toward a more fully developed Del Taco catering platform. Additional enhancements, including updated packaging, promotions and advertising, are planned as the brand continues to develop the channel. Starting Thursday, September 3, guests can explore catering options and place orders.
