PJ’s Coffee Comes Home to Maple Street This Fall
September 24, 2026 // Franchising.com // NEW ORLEANS – PJ’s Coffee is returning to its roots with a new location at 7700 Maple St., just blocks from where founder Phyllis Jordan opened the brand’s first one — PJ’s Coffee & Tea Co. — in 1978.
Located between Carrollton Avenue and Broadway Street, the approximately 1,600-square-foot coffee shop will bring the New Orleans-born brand back to where Jordan first introduced her vision for a neighborhood coffeehouse. The new location will feature a refreshed PJ’s Coffee design and indoor seating and an outdoor patio.
While PJ’s Coffee has grown from its original Maple Street shop to nearly 200 locations across the U.S. and internationally, the brand has remained intentional about carrying the character of its New Orleans beginnings into every coffeehouse. Whether a PJ’s is around the corner in New Orleans or thousands of miles away, the goal is to make that first step through the door feel unmistakably PJ’s — from the aroma of 100% Arabica beans greeting guests to the coffeehouse atmosphere inspired by the place where it all began.
That connection will be especially meaningful at the Maple Street area, where the sights, sounds and aromas of a modern PJ’s Coffee will meet a neighborhood deeply connected to the brand. Guests can expect the familiar flavors that have made PJ’s a New Orleans coffee staple for nearly five decades, from hot, iced and frozen coffee beverages to its signature Original Cold Brew, classic beignets, fresh breakfast pastries and other cafe favorites.
“We’re excited to bring PJ’s Coffee back to where it all started,” said Paul, Steven and Scott Ballard, brothers and co-founders. “Maple Street means a great deal to the PJ’s Coffee community, and we’re looking forward to being part of the neighborhood again.”
The refreshed space will pair those longtime offerings with a contemporary design, creating a neighborhood gathering place that reflects the evolution of PJ’s while honoring the traditions that have connected the brand to New Orleans since Jordan opened the original shop.
Jordan’s approach to coffee — centered on high-quality Arabica beans, careful roasting and a passion for the craft — helped establish PJ’s as a fixture of New Orleans coffee culture. Today, that same commitment extends across the brand’s growing footprint, with each location designed to deliver a distinct PJ’s Coffee experience while remaining connected to its New Orleans foundation.
