Sauce Packets In Search of Clever Customers Willing To Share Wisdoms

IRVINE, CA (Friday, May 20, 2005) - Taco Bell® is making room for new "words of wisdom" on its popular sauce packets, inviting customers to participate in the second annual Share Your Sauce Wisdom national contest launching today. The Company received 10,000 entries last year and published the winning wisdoms among the nearly 5 billion sauce packets distributed to restaurants each year. Up to a dozen customers will be selected again this year to have their Taco Bell-inspired sayings on sauce packets in restaurants nationwide and will receive a one-year supply of free food (Awarded in the form of one $5 Taco Bell gift check per week for 52 weeks).

"The sauce packet may be small in size, but it's big on words and a perfect outlet for celebrating our customers who 'Think Outside the Bun'," said Greg Creed, chief marketing officer, Taco Bell Corp. "Our contest had a tremendous response from customers last year -- and now that they're older and wiser, we can only imagine the wisdoms they'll come up with this time around."

From May 20 to June 17, customers can enter the national contest by registering their "sauce wisdoms" at www.tacobell.com. Taco Bell defines a sauce wisdom as a humorous look at reality through the eyes of the Taco Bell brand. The message should be simple, left of center and provide insight on the little things in life – anything from going on a date to eating a meal -- and it should not exceed 70 characters. All sauce wisdoms will be judged according to humor, originality, length and suitability of use. For Official Rules and contest information, please visit www.tacobell.com.

There is no purchase necessary to enter. Open only to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia, age 18 or older at time of entry. Customers can enter as often as they wish; however, each wisdom must be different.

Last year, Taco Bell published 12 different consumer sayings on its "Mild," "Hot," and "Fire" sauce packets, including:
