Max Muscle has "Strength" to Dominate Sports Nutrition Segment

Anaheim, Calif. - Already a dominant force in the $16 billion dollar a year nutritional supplement market, Max Muscle is poised to strengthen its position even further with the rollout of a modern, customer centric store design for franchise owners. The dynamic new store centers on the ‘Max Muscle Information Center' featuring flat-screen televisions with an interactive electronic library and on-line meal and nutritional planning software to attract and retain a broad and loyal customer base.

Max Muscle, the nation's premier franchise in sports nutrition, weight loss and general fitness, has emerged as the only nationally organized franchise system supporting the specialty segment. Launched in 2003, Max Muscle currently has more than 100 franchise locations operating across the United States, with 500 new franchises slated to open in the next five years.

In 2004 alone, Max Muscle signed agreements for more than 100 locations and inked one regional development agreement in Arizona. While the lion's share of Max Muscle locations are in California, the sports nutrition chain is aggressively targeting additional markets throughout the country, recently signing additional regional development agreements in Western Pennsylvania, Missouri, Kansas, San Diego and South Florida, with projections to open 30-40 units in each market.

"We're the only sports nutrition company in the marketplace to offer franchises and territories," said Marc Kiekenapp, director of franchise development at Max Muscle, noting that the chain offers single, multi-unit and area developer franchise opportunities. "As specialists in our segment, we offer the highest quality line of sports nutrition products and athletic gear. But it's the relationships we build with customers that truly sets us apart. We work closely with customers as their consultants to put them on a comprehensive nutrition and workout program that best benefits them individually."

Fueling interest in the Max Muscle franchise opportunity is a contemporary new brand image, along with a dynamic store design that gives customers a truly one of a kind in-store experience. The new in-line store prototype includes features that provide the consumer with a one-on-one shopping experience infusing education and knowledge with leading edge technology and electronics.

As a destination business that locates strategically near health and athletic clubs, initial investment costs for a Max Muscle franchise opportunity range from $150,000-$200,000 for single unit owner operated and $30,000-$1.5 million for area development agreements and master license. Max Muscle offers a comprehensive initial training program as well as ongoing marketing, field support and top-to-bottom training, including a sports nutrition certification, for franchise owners to ensure they get off the ground running - and build velocity for the long-term.

"Our model is designed to create tremendous customer loyalty wherever we open a store," Kiekenapp said. "In the next five years, Max Muscle will be the dominant force in all the major U.S. markets."
