St. Jude, Chili's Offer Guests a Chance to Get Creative for a Good Cause

August 23, 2007 // Franchising.com // MEMPHIS, Tenn.-- St. Jude Children's Research Hospital(R), in partnership with Chili's Grill & Bar(R), invites people to get creative for a worthy cause by participating in the Create-A-Pepper to Fight Childhood Cancer campaign from now until Sept. 30. The fourth annual in-restaurant campaign will be held in Chili's restaurants nationwide throughout September-which is National Childhood Cancer Awareness month.

Guests at participating Chili's restaurants nationwide can contribute in the following ways:

-- Make a donation to St. Jude, for which patrons will receive a
Create-A-Pepper coloring sheet. Guests' coloring sheets will be
displayed in restaurants during the month.
-- Purchase Create-A-Pepper T-shirts that can be customized with permanent
marker.
-- Purchase Create-A-Pepper Gift Cards and dog tags. Chili's will donate
$1 to St. Jude for every $25 purchased in commemorative Create-A-Pepper
Gift Cards.
-- Eat at Chili's on Monday, Sept. 24, when Chili's will donate 100
percent of its profits from restaurant sales to St. Jude.

Last year's Create-A-Pepper campaign raised more than $5.2 million to benefit the kids of St. Jude.

"Thanks to the generosity of our guests and dedication of our employees, the 2006 Create-A-Pepper campaign was an astounding success. Excitement is already building in our restaurants nationwide, and we look forward to reaching great heights for this worthy cause again this year," said Todd Diener, president of Chili's Grill & Bar.

Since the inception of its relationship with St. Jude, Chili's has raised more than $10.5 million for the hospital. The funds contribute to Chili's 10-year plan to raise $50 million for the construction of a new state-of-the-art research and clinical care building named the Chili's Care Center, opening in November 2007, which will house the Department of Radiological Sciences, the Pediatric Brain Tumor Consortium (PBTC), inpatient activity areas and new research laboratories.

Jeff Probst, host and producer of the Emmy(TM) Award-winning CBS-TV series
"Survivor," serves as spokesperson for the campaign and is featured in a
public service announcement that can be viewed at
http://www.createapepperpresskit.com. Probst urges people nationwide to
participate in the campaign, explaining that "you go into any Chili's during
the month of September and simply make a donation to color a pepper. It
doesn't sound like a lot, but every dollar helps the children who depend on
the life-saving research and care provided by
St. Jude."
