Newest Fatburger In Canada Also Serves Full Ricky's All Day Grill Breakfast
August 27, 2007 // Franchising.com // NORTH VANCOUVER, B.C., CANADA, – What if you could enjoy your favorite Ricky's All Day Grill's ham and three-cheese omelet or chorizo benny in the morning and return later in the day to the very same restaurant location for a delicious Fatburger and homemade-style onion rings?
Well that's exactly what customers are able to do, thanks to Frank Di Benedetto, president of the Ricky's All Day Grill restaurant chain and Frankie's Burger Enterprises, and the Fatburger franchisor for Western Canada, and the management of Fatburger North America.
A former 1,900-square-foot Ricky's located at 1995 Lonsdale Avenue, has reopened recently as Canada's first Fatburger restaurant serving Ricky's full breakfast menu and the first Fatburgers in the affluent North and West Vancouver area.
"It's really the best of both worlds for our customers who want the tastiest breakfast around and their favorite Fatburger, too, and for the two organizations that have established themselves in the respective breakfast, lunch and dinner segments," said Di Benedetto. "Now our loyal Ricky's customers can still have the breakfast they insist upon, and also enjoy the tastiest burgers in town. The arrangement will keep them satisfied for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and keep the restaurant busy all day long."
The new restaurant, which first opened in 2002, was Ricky's 50th location in Western Canada and was the first example of its urban diner concept, featuring a design reminiscent of the classic diners of the '30s and '40s. Di Benedetto said the restaurant was ideally suited for conversion to a Fatburger because of the Fatburger's signature retro styling balanced with up-to-the-minute technology. The restaurant seats 60 guests and employs a staff of 30.
After serving Ricky's complete breakfast menu until 10:30 am on weekdays and 11:30 on weekends, the restaurant prepares Fatburgers, Kingburgers, Turkeyburgers, and Chicken Sandwiches, available with a wide selection of toppings, including cheese, bacon, egg, or chili, plus chili dogs, homemade onion rings, "skinny" fries, and milkshakes made with real hand-scooped ice cream for lunch and dinner.
Of course, guests wanting to enjoy breakfast in the early evening will be pleased to know that the restaurant is serving a selection of Ricky's breakfast items throughout the day.
The restaurant also caters to those who prefer Fatburger's Veggieburger and Fat Salad Wedge. All Fatburgers are made with AAA Canadian Alberta beef. For information about the new restaurant, which is open seven days a week, call 604-904-4430.
By yearend, Di Benedetto will have seven Fatburger restaurants open in Western Canada. Other locations already open include the new Crosstown location, plus the Deerfoot Meadows lifestyle dining and shopping centre in Calgary, Langley's Willowbrook Corner retail power centre, and Vancouver's West End, Canada's first Fatburger. Coming soon are Fatburger restaurants in Edmonton and White Rock and another Fatburger serving Ricky's breakfast items in Prince George. He plans to further expand the chain's presence in Western Canada over the next few years. Fatburger has an alliance with the Canadian Football League's BC Lions and is involved in many community events, including Vancouver's Pride in the City parade.
"We are excited about our newest Fatburger in Canada," said Elaine Patel, vice president of marketing, Fatburger North America, Inc. "Ricky's fans will be introduced to Fatburger, and those Canadians who already love Fatburgers can now also enjoy a great breakfast, Ricky's-style, too. It's a win-win for everyone."
