Culver's Raises More Than $165,000 for Local American Red Cross Chapters During "Day of Giving" Fundraiser

Dozens of Local American Red Cross® Chapters Benefit From 10 Percent of Sales Donation

September 21, 2007 // Franchising.com // Prairie du Sac, Wis. – Culver's® restaurants in 16 states raised more than $165,000 for local American Red Cross® chapters during the inaugural "Day of Giving" fundraising event held on Wednesday, Sept. 12. The fundraiser surpassed the system-wide goal by more than $15,000.

More than 340 Culver's restaurants raised the funds through a 10 percent of sales donation as well as additional funds placed in canisters by generous guests. The money raised at each locally owned and operated restaurant will stay in the community in which it was donated to help the Red Cross® pay for local community programs as well as emergency preparedness and disaster relief efforts. The fundraiser coincided with National Preparedness Month and included educational outreach in many communities to remind residents to prepare for an emergency.

"To see how the money raised by both individuals and businesses makes a difference in the lives of those facing tragedy, we do not have to look any further than the recent tornado and floods that struck the Midwest," said Roger Dahl, service area executive, Midwest Service Area for the American Red Cross. "Culver's generosity of time in organizing this event and financial donation helps ensure the availability of similar emergency services in every community."

"Floods, fires and other disasters are events that most of us only read or hear about but cannot grasp how such moments can change a life forever," explains Lea Culver, Culver's cofounder and a Red Cross volunteer. "The array of services offered by the Red Cross is vital to helping those individuals touched by disaster recover and move forward with their lives. The knowledge our efforts and money raised during the Day of Giving is helping people in need makes us very proud."

Culver's Raises Funds For The American Red Cross/Page 2 Red Cross emergency preparedness and disaster relief efforts focus on meeting the needs of individuals and families in local communities.
