Gold's Gym International Teams Up with the ADA and Offers Special Membership Discounts for Anyone Affected by Diabetes

December 15, 2007 // Franchising.com // Gold's Gym International recently announced another exciting collaborative effort with the American Diabetes Association (ADA) to support the fight against diabetes by offering special discounted membership to anyone affected by diabetes.

"Exercise is the key to preventing and managing diabetes, and we hope this nationwide membership discount will enable anyone affected by the disease to create and maintain an active, healthy lifestyle," said David Schnabel, president and CEO of Gold's Gym International.

In addition to making fitness more accessible to people with diabetes, Gold's Gym will donate a portion of every membership enrollment sold to the ADA. In doing so, Gold's Gym will reduce its enrollment fee to $59 and donate 10% to the ADA for every enrollment fee sold online.

The special membership discount will be available beginning December 18, 2007 and consumers are encouraged to log onto www.goldsgym.com/adafitness, to locate their nearest Gold's Gym and enroll online.

In addition to offering this exclusive discounted membership to anyone affected by diabetes, Gold's Gym is a National Strategic Partner of the American Diabetes Association and the top fundraising sponsor of the ADA's signature cycling event, Tour de Cure for three years in a row.

Diabetes is one of the biggest health crisis' facing our country today, with more than 75 million Americans affected by the disease. It is estimated that nearly 21 million have the disease and another 54 million have pre-diabetes. Recent studies reveal that one in three children born today will develop the disease in their lifetime.
