Accor North America Opens First Motel 6 Corporate Acquisition In Eight Years
New Opening Marks Beginning of Renewed Corporate Expansion for Motel 6
February 21, 2008 // Franchising.com // DALLAS, Texas – Accor North America, one of the nation's largest owner/operators of economy lodging, announces the first corporate acquisition in eight years. The newest Motel 6 property is located at 4760 Euclid Drive in Virginia Beach, Virginia, just a few blocks from Virginia Beach Town Center. The property, formerly owned by Virginia Beach Hotel, LLC, opened Thursday, February 14, under the ownership and management of Motel 6.

To achieve the goal of 1,200 locations in North America by 2010, Motel 6 and Studio 6 are aggressively pursuing franchising with 37 locations opened in 2007. Accor is also interested in making strategic acquisitions as an all-cash buyer in select locations.
The 131-room property includes two exterior corridor floors with the 3rd-floor featuring an interior corridor. The property formerly operated as a Fairfield Inn and is immediately accessible to the Virginia Beach Town Center District, offering upscale shopping, dining and entertainment. The new Motel 6 property is just nine miles from the ocean front and minutes away from local attractions including the Virginia Aquarium andMarine Science Center, Lynn Haven Mall, Pembroke Mall and Williamsburg Busch Gardens.
Accor North America currently has more than 950 economy lodging locations in the U.S. and Canada, with roughly 75 percent of its network consisting of corporately-owned and leased properties.
