Super 8 Lodging Chain Turns Back the Clock, Offers Rooms for $8.88

PARSIPPANY, NJ--(Marketwire - July 29, 2008) - Turning the clock back to celebrate its heritage, the Super 8® lodging chain will sell rooms for a nightly rate of $8.88 -- the charge for one night's stay in 1974 when the first Super 8 hotel opened -- to 800 lucky people every day for eight days beginning on a date notable for the number eight: Aug. 8, 2008.

The special sale, which will begin at 8 p.m. EDT on each of the eight days, will continue until the 800-room daily allocation is exhausted. The $8.88 rate, which does not include fees and taxes, may be used to book rooms at Super 8 hotels in the United States and Canada for stays through Dec. 30, 2008.

"The $8.88 offer will cap the Super 8 brand's year-long Celebrate the 8 observance of its 34-year heritage as one of the world's largest economy lodging chains," said John Valletta, Super 8 president. "We're thanking our guests, who have made Super 8 hotels the leader in providing clean and affordable accommodations for more than three decades."

In conjunction with the observance, Valletta today announced the grand-prize winner of the Super 8 Celebrate the 8 Sweepstakes. Laurel Conrad of Madeira Beach, Fla., received an all-expenses-paid trip to China including accommodations at a Super 8 hotel in Beijing. She plans to travel to China with her husband, Neil Greenstein.

Eight first-prize winners received two free nights at any Super 8 hotel in the United States and Canada, excluding Quebec, and a $100 gas card. Eighty-eight second-prize winners received free one-night stays at any Super 8 hotel in the United States and Canada, excluding Quebec, along with a $25 gas card.

The Super 8 brand was conceived in 1973 by Dennis Brown and Ron Rivett at a coffee shop in Aberdeen, S.D. They opened the first Super 8 hotel there one year later. Within three decades, the chain had expanded to nearly 2,100 hotels in the United States, Canada and China, making it one of the largest economy lodging brands in the world.

All Super 8 hotels today are independently owned and operated under franchise agreements with Super 8 Worldwide, a subsidiary of Wyndham Worldwide Corporation (NYSE: WYN). Reservations and information are available by calling (800) 800-8000 or at www.super8.com.

The Super 8 brand awards Wyndham Rewards(SM) loyalty points for qualifying night stays. Wyndham Rewards, formerly the TripRewards® program, is the largest in the lodging industry based on the number of participating hotels.
