Branding Your Environment

New Article Shows How to Add Personality to Store Designs

August 07, 2008 // Franchise Update // Greenville, Wis. - In his newest article, "Branding Your Environment: Infusing Personality into Your Store Design," retail consultant Troy Schwehr takes a look at how retailers can use their brand to bring their stores to life. "A friend told me once that great people are great to look at, but great personalities keep the conversation going," says Schwehr. "A store that lacks personality runs the risk of falling flat when it comes to attracting people," he continues.

His article shows how brand stories and brand attributes can be translated into tangible experiences for customers. According to Schwehr, it all begins with brainstorming a list of keywords that describe your brand and matching design elements with those attributes. From there, he encourages using all aspects of the design to help tell the story. "Use logos, colors, shapes, materials, and other pieces to tell your story," he writes. "Whether literal or unexpected, these touches help get the conversation going and create an experience for your customers to discover and enjoy."
