Baron Davis Scores Big with Jenny Craig

Baron Davis joins Jenny Craig to get into game shape and lead a nation to better health

September 29, 2008 // Franchising.com // Carlsbad , Calif. - Jenny Craig Inc., one of the nation's leading authorities on weight management, announced today that pro-basketball star Baron Davis is the company's newest "star" client. The two-time All-Star point guard is the latest celebrity to join the ranks of Jenny Craig weight loss success stories Queen Latifah and Valerie Bertinelli.

Davis wanted to lose weight in the off-season to get into the best "game-shape" possible and decided to incorporate Jenny Craig into his training regimen. After losing 19 pounds on Jenny Craig's at-home program, Jenny Direct®, Davis plans to educate sports fans about the positive health benefits of losing weight.

"I wanted to live in a better body and switch up my normal training regimen by incorporating a new nutrition program. In the past, I've had to adjust my lifestyle and eating habits, but I was really surprised that Jenny Craig offered a personalized program that fit my busy schedule. My consultant worked with me each week to tailor a menu that fit my demanding lifestyle, which made it easy for me to follow. And I have to say, the food was amazing! And after shedding the weight, I feel more than ready to tackle the upcoming season," said Davis.

He plans to utilize the partnership to launch a weight loss challenge and continue Jenny Craig's mission to encourage others to live a healthy lifestyle. "I'm going to interact with other men and women through my blog on jennycraig.com. Consider it Baron's Better Body Challenge to get you into shape. Right now we are dealing with an obesity epidemic that is killing our country with more than two-thirds of the country overweight. I want to influence America to take better care of themselves. People need to do it for their health."

Jenny Craig Sr. Director of Branding and Advertising, Steve Bellach, added, "We are thrilled to have someone of Baron's caliber join forces with Jenny Craig to support our mission of achieving a healthy lifestyle. Baron was able to reach his weight loss goals through Jenny Direct, our at-home program, where he could do his consultations over the phone and have his food shipped right to his door, a convenience that many of our clients enjoy."

Baron Davis will leverage his new role with Jenny Craig to promote an active lifestyle. He will participate in several community oriented events and will use the jennycraig.com website as well as his own personal blog and website to reach out to consumers.
