Caribou Coffee Announces 'More Bou for Your Buck'

New $1 bakery item with large beverage promotion unveiled. Caribou celebrates being named top gourmet coffee by national consumer magazine

Minneapolis, /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Caribou Coffee (Nasdaq: CBOU) announced a national "More Bou for Your Buck" campaign, in which the company will offer any bakery item for the promotional price of one dollar each to customers who purchase a large beverage at Caribou Coffee through March 22, 2009. The announcement comes on the heels of a leading consumer publication naming Caribou Coffee the top gourmet coffee. In a national taste test, Caribou Coffee's Colombia Timana beat Starbucks and Peet's offerings, among others. Overall, Caribou Coffee ranked second for all coffees sold at the retail level.

"We're making a stand on quality and value," said Caribou Coffee Sr. Vice President of Marketing Alfredo V. Martel. "Our high quality has been firmly established, and with this new bundled promotion, consumers can get better coffee and more for their money."

Martel explained that while the promotion applies to any large beverage purchased at Caribou Coffee, a consumer buying a large brewed coffee and a bakery item will pay only about $3. "They're getting unparalleled quality at a price that is competitive with convenience stores and gas stations - while far exceeding anything offered at other gourmet coffee shops. We're letting them know that they don't have to compromise quality for value, they can have both at Caribou Coffee."

The $1 bakery promotion will be available at all Caribou Coffee locations. All bakery items, including multi-grain bagels, breads, coffee cake, cookies, donuts and scones, are included.
