Hotel Indigo Enhances Guest Experience with "Artists in the Spotlight" Music Program

March 12, 2009 // Franchising.com // To enrich the guest experience and extend hotel interaction beyond the pillow, Hotel Indigo today announced the launch of its 2009 music program - Artists in the Spotlight. The interactive marketing program is designed to further the brand's lifestyle offering and simultaneously provide buzz-worthy, breakout artists and bands with a new platform to reach fans and music lovers.

Developed in partnership with Chicago-based digital entertainment company VerveLife, Hotel Indigo will spotlight four emerging artists through a series of complimentary, seasonal music podcasts and intimate performances at Hotel Indigo locations across the U.S. The program keeps time with the brand's retail-inspired concept of seasonal renewal where menu items, music, aromas, artwork and murals change four times a year to transform the public spaces in each hotel, which offers even the most frequent guest a distinctive and engaging experience with each and every stay.

Starting today, consumers can visit www.hotelindigo.com/podcast to download the spring podcast featuring tunes from alternative rock artist Rocco DeLuca. The podcast is filled with studio tracks, exclusive recordings, and intimate artist insight in addition to streaming music videos and live performance footage.

"As a lifestyle brand, Hotel Indigo is committed to connecting with each guest on a personal level; Artists in the Spotlight is a great platform for this," said Janis Cannon, vice president, global brand management, Hotel Indigo. "Through the music program we will be able to relate to current and future guests outside the hotel via a medium that is so strongly tied to our emotions and intertwined into our life story. Like traveling, music is a universal language and passion that spans the globe."

In addition to the online component, the music program provides an opportunity for Hotel Indigo to interact directly with business partners, neighbors, and hotel guests through eight in-market performances. DeLuca will kick off the first performance at the Hotel Indigo Nashville West End, followed by other featured artists' performances in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Miami, Nashville, New York City, San Diego and Houston.

"Due in part to the economy, both the music and hotel industries are looking for more effective ways to connect with their audiences," said Barry O'Connell, director of licensing and entertainment relations, VerveLife. "Our partnership with Hotel Indigo creates a mutually beneficial relationship that allows us to promote artists through a unique and interactive channel."

About Rocco DeLuca

In February 2008, DeLuca sat down at his home in Silverlake, Calif. and recorded Hotel Indigo's spring podcast. The intimate podcast includes several tracks from his sophomore album Mercy, which hit stores on March 10, 2009, as well as details about his writing process, the joys of touring and working with renowned producer Daniel Lanois (U2, Bob Dylan, Peter Gabriel). Praised by Rolling Stone for displaying "echoes of Neil Young, Robert Plant and Pearl Jam," DeLuca was the first artist signed to Ironworks Records, an independent label started by actor Kiefer Sutherland and artist/producer Jude Cole.
