Massage Envy(R) Partners with Susan G. Komen for the Cure(R) to Sponsor Massage for the Cure Event

Annual Fundraising Event to be Held Nationally for First Time; Nearly 600 Massage Envy Clinics in 40 States to Participate in September 15th Event

DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Massage Envy announced today that it has partnered with Susan G. Komen for the Cure® to host the one-day fundraising event, "Massage for the Cure," to help win the fight against breast cancer.

For the first time, Massage for the Cure, to be held September 15, 2009, will be conducted simultaneously throughout the nation with nearly 600 Massage Envy clinics in 40 states participating. It is the third time that the Front Range market will participate in this important fundraising program.

During the event, Massage Envy clinics will offer $35 one-hour therapeutic massage sessions, with $10 from each to be donated directly to various local affiliates of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Additional donations will also be accepted. This year, Massage Envy's goal is to raise approximately $500,000. It is expected that on this day, each clinic across the nation will perform about 100 massages for a total of 60,000, performed by 15,000 therapists.

In the Front Range market, both the Denver and Colorado Springs affiliates of Susan G. Komen for the Cure will receive donations generated by the 21 participating Massage Envy clinics located here. All proceeds collected will go directly to these local communities and will support breast cancer education, screening and treatment initiatives in communities across the U.S.

The event is open to the public and requires an appointment. Reservations at any of the 21 Massage Envy clinic(s) will be taken beginning on August 15, 2009, and can be made by calling 877-330-ENVY (3689) or any of the local clinics directly.

"Massage Envy is extremely proud to support Susan G. Komen for the Cure and to continue the partnership that we've developed over the years to raise funds for breast cancer efforts in our community," said Larry Reiff, regional franchise developer for Massage Envy-Colorado.

This year alone, more than 180,000 women and men in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 40,000 will lose their lives to the disease. A woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every three minutes and the disease claims another life every 13 minutes.
