Wyndham Discount Aims to Strengthen TMC, Consortia Partnership

December 02, 2009 // Franchising.com // PARSIPPANY, N.J. — Wyndham Hotels and Resorts today introduced a 5 percent discount for bookings by travel management companies and consortia as a demonstration of its commitment to the travel agent community.

The 5 percent discount builds on the Wyndham brand's commitment to TMCs and consortia, which includes pay-for-performance agreements, marketing support and agent training, according to Bill Scanlon, Wyndham senior vice president of sales and marketing.

"At a time when other suppliers are cutting back, we are demonstrating our commitment to TMCs and consortia by offering an additional financial value for booking Wyndham hotels and resorts," he said. "We truly appreciate the role of travel agents and continue to look for ways to show our commitment."

Agencies may access the discount by emailing sales@wyndhamworldwide.com for additional information. Rooms booked at the discounted rates also are eligible for personalized Wyndham ByRequest® benefits and Wyndham Rewards® frequent-guest points and can be booked on a last-room-available basis through select preferred TMC or consortia programs.

Wyndham ByRequest, the Wyndham brand's guest recognition program, offers complimentary benefits including free high-speed Internet access, a choice of welcome snack and beverage, preferred pillow type, express check-in, guaranteed late check-out, local and long-distance calls, best available room upon arrival, photocopies, faxes and online receipts.

Wyndham Rewards points can be redeemed for hotel stays, airline tickets, dining and shopping gift cards and name-brand merchandise powered by Sky Mall, including Dooney & Bourke® handbags, jewelry, notebook computers and Bose® music systems, among other options. In lieu of points, members may elect to earn airline or rail miles with a variety of partners. More information is available at www.wyndhamrewards.com.

"Wyndham ByRequest benefits help travel agents enhance their clients' stays," Scanlon said. "And by awarding Wyndham Rewards on these discounted rates, we are helping our TMC and consortia travel partners reward their clients – especially small and medium-sized companies – by offering added value."

Travel agents and meeting planners also can earn up to one million Wyndham Rewards points for booking events at any Wyndham property through the brand's Wyndham Event Rewards® program. The Wyndham Event Rewards® program offers 10 points per dollar spent, from a minimum of $2,500 to a maximum of $100,000, on master-billed guest rooms as well as group food and beverage functions and meeting room rentals. In addition to consumer-oriented rewards, travel agents and meeting planners can redeem points for meeting credits.
