Jason Alexander Reveals 30-lb Weight Loss (and Much More) in Unique Jenny Craig National Commercial

Skipping the 'mankini', the Award-winning Actor performs a big musical number in his national reveal

CARLSBAD, Calif. // PRNewswire // -- Jenny Craig, Inc., one of the nation's leading authorities on weight management, announced today Jason Alexander has achieved his weight loss goal of 30 lbs.* The award-winning actor, who has starred in television, theater and film, celebrates his weight loss in a surprise song-and-dance musical national spot for Jenny Craig.

Following in Jenny Craig spokesperson Valerie Bertinelli's footsteps, Alexander dares to get into a bikini. "Throughout this campaign, Valerie has been taunting me to get into a bikini, or as she calls it, a 'mankini'. I thought, forget the mankini, if I lose the weight, let's take it all off!" joked Alexander. "With every diet I've ever tried, the first 10 pounds were always easy, and then they would come right back. Jenny Craig's program is the first one that helped me reach my goal. So, why not celebrate a little?"

In the humorous spot, Alexander shocks Bertinelli with a revealing Broadway-style musical number featuring six professional dancers. "I couldn't stop laughing in the rehearsals! I was losing my voice because I was having so much fun. He looks amazing, and he definitely got one over me. He came up with this spot, and it's brilliant! A lot of people forget he's a Tony Award winner. It's really fun," said Bertinelli.

In the spot, Alexander sings:

"Take a look, drink it in...

I was fat – now I'm thin!

Val said the bikini was the ultimate call

But who needs a bikini?

I'm baring it all!"

Jason admits he was ready to make a change in his life after carrying the extra 30 pounds on his frame for the past 20 years. "When I turned 50 last September, my teenage son asked me if I was going to be around when he turned 50 someday. That question helped me realize that if I didn't make significant changes, I might not be. It took me 50 years to learn bad habits and put the weight on, and it only took three months to learn good habits and lose weight with Jenny Craig. This has been good for me. George Costanza, the character created by versatile actor/writer/director Jason Alexander, has been dubbed by Entertainment Weekly as one of the "Best Television Sidekicks of All Time" (#3 actually, behind Robin and Tonto). The hapless, everyman that he played for nine seasons on NBC's "Seinfeld" garnered him six Emmy and four Golden Globe nominations.
