Flip Flop Shops & Scott Hawaii Share their Aloha this Summer with June Promotion

The Ultimate Hawaiian Experience Up for Grabs; More than 500 Slippahs Donated to Soles4Souls

June 01, 2010 // Franchising.com // ATLANTA - With summer's official start just a few weeks away, it's no doubt that now is the best time to stock up on the ultimate summertime necessities. And, Flip Flop Shops and Scott Hawaii are making it easy for consumers to find the season's hottest styles with a new system-wide promotion encouraging consumers to "Live…Work…Play With Their Toes Exposed®."

Throughout the entire month of June, customers who purchase Scott Hawaii slippahs (the brand's nod to the way Hawaiians affectionately refer to flip flops and sandals) at any of the Flip Flop Shops' locations throughout the United States, Canada, and Guam will receive free Scott Hawaii shwag and will be entered into a drawing to win a dream beach vacation to Hawaii. Every 19th and 32nd customer who purchases Scott Hawaii slippahs will receive a gift basket filled with the ultimate beach necessities, including: a Scott Hawaii soft 6-pack cooler, koozie, and t-shirt, along with Vertra sunscreen.

Plus, any customer who purchases Scott Hawaii footwear will have a chance to win a trip for two to the island of Oahu for a one week stay at the Outrigger Reef Hotel on Waikiki Beach. The trip is packed with activities, including: canoe sailing at sunset off Waikiki Beach and cocktails and dinner with the Scott Hawaii crew. Complimentary round trip airfare on Hawaiian Airlines and an Alamo Rental Car are also included in the prize pack.

"We're stoked about our partnership with Scott Hawaii and are happy to share the Hawaiian Spirit in our shops," said Brian Curin, the President (Size 10) of Flip Flop Shops, adding that having the company's third system-wide promotion of the year sponsored by Scott Hawaii, a brand that has been providing primo Hawaiian slippahs since 1932, was the perfect way to invite customers to free their toes. "Scott Hawaii keeps the spirit of Aloha present throughout their entire line, without sacrificing quality or requiring "break in" time. We couldn't think of a better brand to partner with as everyone welcomes summer with their toes exposed."

In addition to partnering for this promotion, Scott Hawaii is also working with Flip Flops Shops' charitable partner, Soles4Souls, an international footwear distribution charity that has distributed more than 7 million donated pairs of new and gently used shoes to people in more than 125 countries. Scott Hawaii is donating more than 500 pairs of flip flops.

"Kudos to Flip Flop Shops for making a huge difference in peoples' lives through their ongoing partnership with Soles4Souls. We are proud to be associated with both of these top notch organizations," said Steve Scott, (Size 9) of Scott Hawaii. "We're equally as impressed with the way Flip Flop Shops has grown and how it's filling the void for people who want the hottest brands and latest styles of flip flops and sandals.

As part of the promotion, each Flip Flop Shops location will receive a promotional facelift complete with window banners, framed posters and freestanding counter cards. Plus, Flip Flop Shops' unique and innovative "flip flop trees" will be exclusively dedicated to the Scott Hawaii product line. Flip Flop Shops staff will create further awareness around the promotion by wearing Scott Hawaii branded t-shirts and Scott Hawaii slippahs.

"This will be an epic year for Flip Flop Shops," added Darin Kraetsch, the CEO (size 10) of Flip Flop Shops. "The fact that Scott Hawaii has been going strong since 1932 proves that the Free Your Toes mentality will go on for many years to come!"

About Scott Hawaii

Founded in 1932 as a footwear company making boots for plantation workers, Scott Hawaii's rich history was re-written during World War II when supplies were directed to the troops and materials became scarce. In an effort to provide casual footwear for the hard working servicemen of the United States, Scott Shoe Company refocused their efforts from boots to a line of what the local Hawaiians termed "slippahs," or flip flops as they are known today. The same quality Scott Hawaii brought to its plantation boots in the early 1930's remains the cornerstone of the company's mission statement today. As creators of the Original Hawaiian Slippah, the Scott family carries on the tradition of authentic shoe features in their expanding line of sandals by mirroring many of the components found in high quality shoes.
