ColorTyme Franchise supports youth through FFA and 4-H auction

Rent-to-own franchisor continues more than 20-year giving tradition

July 14, 2010 // Franchising.com // PLANO, Texas – ColorTyme, a rent-to-own franchising company, recently purchased a prized pig at the Henderson County Livestock Show. More than a charitable donation to the show's youth exhibitors, the purchase marks a corporate tradition maintained for over two decades.

Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, the livestock show gave FFA and 4-H young exhibitors the opportunity to present their market-ready animals and compete for awards. After the livestock were judged, buyers participated in an auction and bid for top-ranking animals. The money raised went directly to exhibitors to purchase new livestock and compete in other shows throughout Texas. Larry Teague, a ColorTyme franchisee principal, says being involved with the Henderson County Livestock Show dates back to when ColorTyme first started operating. "ColorTyme founder Willie Talley was a big supporter of the Henderson County Livestock Show when he opened the first store in Athens, Texas." said Teague. "In fact, Willie personally attended the livestock auctions in the late 80's and early 90's."

ColorTyme is a large supporter of youth-oriented organizations nation-wide. Bob Bloom, president and CEO of ColorTyme, says the company will continue being a buyer at the livestock show for many years to come.

"Being a buyer at the Henderson County Livestock Show is a fun tradition that is part of our history, and it gives us the opportunity to support a community that supports us," said Bloom. "Purchasing livestock is encouraging to the kids who work hard to raise the animals, and it's rewarding to be a part of their success."
