Great Clips franchisees give high marks to the brands back-to-school promotion

Old Navy re-enlists for the second year in a row

July 26, 2010 // Franchising.com // Great Clips and Old Navy, with a fleet of 1,065 stores throughout the United States and Canada, are launching their back-to-school promotion in back-to-back years.

"This is great news for our Great Clips franchise owners," said Rob Goggins, vice president of franchise development for Great Clips, Inc. "Everyone has a list of things to do before school starts: stock up on supplies, buy new clothes, and get a haircut. Great Clips franchise salons will offer customers haircuts and clothes again this year with an Old Navy coupon."

During the back-to-school promotional period, Great Clips franchise salons will give away a $10 off Old Navy coupon to everyone—not just school-age kids—who comes in for a haircut. And, the coupon offer from Old Navy is only available to Great Clips customers. The offer is good for $10 off any $50 purchase at Old Navy—a 20% discount.

Great Clips will feature the Old Navy offer on print ads, radio and TV. The offer will also be supported in the Great Clips franchise salons with posters and station banners. Additionally, all the Old Navy stores will hand out $2 off Great Clips haircut coupons.

"For our Great Clips franchise owners, this back-to-school promotion has proven to generate salon traffic," said Goggins. "When you are the world's largest hair salon brand with more than 2,800 salons across North America, our Great Clips franchisees have the marketing resources to positively affect sales even in challenging economic times.

"Our typical franchisees invest in Great Clips in order to transition out of corporate America. The business model allows individuals to keep their day jobs while building their salon businesses on the side. Successful franchisees usually come from the middle- and upper-level executive ranks of industry. They possess strong management, leadership, communications and people skills. And they don't cut hair. They are CEOs of their Great Clips franchise, managing people and expanding their businesses."

In December, AllBusiness.com, a wholly owned subsidiary of Dun & Bradstreet, released its 2010 Franchise AllStar 300 listing and once again ranked the Great Clips franchise opportunity as the top hair salon business franchise opportunity.
