Koko Fitclub Franchise Rides into Texas

Club Opening in North Dallas Suburbs, First in Multi-Unit Agreement

August 03, 2010 // Franchising.com // BOSTON, MA - Koko FitClub, LLC, the technology company reinventing the fitness franchise business, adds the Lone Star State to its growing roster of locations nationwide. This first area agreement in Texas encompasses the high-growth suburbs north of Dallas including Frisco, McKinney, Plano and Allen. When the doors open to their first North Dallas Koko FitClub in December, owners Jeremy and Jenee' Harris, will finally get to combine the keen business skills they've honed as successful franchise owners with their shared passion for fitness.

When Jeremy and Jenee' describe what led them to Koko FitClub, that same word comes up over and over: Passion. The Harris' have been superstars in a well known franchise system for 6 years and it's been good to them. But when looking for additional brands to build their company, Harris Partnership Investments, LLC, there was no doubt for either of them that this time around they wanted to indulge a shared passion for fitness. According to Jenee', once the couple found Koko FitClub they knew they had found their next business. "It's different, it's unique. Koko takes something that already exists, personal training, and through technology makes it a whole lot better. It isn't like every other physical fitness outlet out there." Jeremy concurs and adds, "Fitness is a multi-billion dollar industry and Koko brings a new and better way of doing business to the table. We believe in it, we can sell it and there is no competition. It's the next big thing and we're going to be a part of it."

Both Jeremy and Jenee' know their way around a weight floor. Jenee', with 20 years of weight training under her belt, is actively training for her first fitness competition in October. And friends say that even though he isn't in training, Jeremy always works out like he is. When asked what he's training for, he responds with a smile, "I'm training for life." Even with this broad base of fitness knowledge, Jenee' concedes that, a couple of years ago, she hired a trainer to get back into shape after having her kids. "I paid $750 for a trainer for 6 weeks because I didn't want to think about what I was doing. I already think a lot during the day." Koko provides the same service, but better. For a lot less money, Koko FitClub members get a personalized, guided fitness plan that they need simply to follow for success. Jeremy sums it up, "That huge group of people who would love to be fit, but don't know how to do it or don't want to think about it? We're going to capture that. We're going to capture a whole new market with Koko FitClub."

Koko FitClub President and Co-Founder Mary Obana says that when it comes to Jeremy and Jenee' Harris' stellar franchise record, one thing is clear, "They know how to succeed." She elaborates, "They also know they are in complete control of their success. There are no excuses and there is no finger pointing, it's just heads-down getting the job done. I have no doubt that with their work ethic and rock-solid conviction that Koko is the fitness solution their community needs, they are going to be star performers in our system, too."

Koko FitClub is for the millions of people who want all the benefits of exercise but don't have the time or energy to figure out a plan that works. The company's genesis in 2003, according to Obana, was the realization that, "Traditional gyms don't work for the vast majority of the population. They don't have the time, and they don't know what to do." Seven years and 10 million dollars worth of research and development later, there is a solution. The Koko Smartraining SystemTM. Says, Obana, "It's revolutionary fitness technology that actually gets people fit. Think of it as a computerized personal trainer, but better. Koko is ready to coach you through a custom designed fitness program, geared to your needs and different each time, all on your schedule. The workouts take less time and the results are better."

The Koko Smartraining System technology precisely analyzes each Koko FitClub member's unique fitness level, then designs a customized training plan based on individual goals and ability. The Koko Smartraining System uses that information to guide users through personalized, highly-effective workouts on proprietary strength and cardio equipment, surpassing the benefits of a 60-90 minute personal training session in just 30 minutes or less, and at a fraction of the cost. World-class trainer, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and Koko FitClub Chief Fitness Officer, Michael Wood, says, "Human personal trainers simply can't begin to manage all the variables or track progress with the precision we can through Smartraining technology."

With Koko FitClub, Obana and husband/Co-Founder Mike Lannon have taken the same approach to running franchises as they have to exercise. While Koko Smartraining technology offers a consistent, high-quality member experience, it also uniquely enables a relatively low-cost, easy-to-operate business model for franchisees, allowing a Koko FitClub to be staffed by one person and to be open nearly 24 hours a day. And, Lannon points out that The Koko FitClub franchise, with the exclusive rights to the patented Koko Smartraining System, is in an enviable position. "We offer breakthrough technological innovation that tackles head-on the biggest issue in this country: an aging, overweight population."

The ideal candidates for a Koko FitClub franchise have a strong desire to help their communities and are drawn to entrepreneurialism as a way to control their personal and financial future. According to Obana, "We are looking for people who want to be at the forefront of a game-changing new concept in fitness, health and technology. And every franchisee that opens the doors to a Koko FitClub reinforces our belief that people are craving a better way to improve their health and change their lives."
