Build-A-Bear Workshop Celebrates the 10th Birthday of DonorsChoose.org By Supporting Classroom Projects Across America

Company Invites Guests to Contribute to the "Almost Home" Campaign.

ST. LOUIS, Oct 01, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- It was announced today that Build-A-Bear Workshop® and its philanthropic arm, the Build-A-Bear Workshop Foundation, will raise funds for DonorsChoose.org, an organization committed to bettering the lives of children by providing funds to public school teachers for classroom projects. The interactive entertainment retailer of customized stuffed animals is inviting Guests to add a $1 donation to support DonorsChoose.org when they check out at stores in the United States or online at buildabear.com® from Oct. 4 through 17.

In addition to the fundraising in its stores, Build-A-Bear Workshop is encouraging its Guests to visit DonorsChoose.org to donate the additional $99 needed to complete the Almost Home classroom projects proposed by teachers nationwide. The Almost Home program supports classroom projects by providing a donation that leaves only $99 remaining so that the average donor can complete the funding. Qualified projects appear on the DonorsChoose.org site with an "Under $100 To Go" icon and the Build-A-Bear Workshop Foundation Logo and projects are funded once the remaining dollars have been contributed by citizen philanthropists.

"Teachers have always been my heroes because they are at the heart of their students' success," said Maxine Clark, founder and chief executive bear of Build-A-Bear Workshop. "We are excited to continue working with DonorsChoose.org to provide teachers with the resources to help students in need to learn, thrive, and be successful."

The Build-A-Bear Workshop Foundation raised over $100,000 from Aug. 15 through Sept. 12 for DonorsChoose.org to seed classroom projects throughout the United States as part of the 10th Anniversary "Almost Home" Campaign.

"DonorsChoose.org couldn't be more thrilled with the support of the Build-A-Bear Workshop Foundation to help celebrate our 10th anniversary. They have been a tireless supporter of teachers and students in need, and their latest partnership is a fantastic way to empower every day people to become citizen philanthropists," said Charles Best, founder of DonorsChoose.org.
