Madame Tussauds to Honor Jerry of Jerry's Subs & Pizza with Wax Figure

WASHINGTON --(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Tomorrow, Tuesday, December 7th at 11am, the world will get to "meet" the iconic and mysterious Jerry of Jerry's Subs & Pizza, when Madame Tussauds Washington D.C. debuts a wax figure to honor the popular metropolitan entrepreneur. For two decades, the legendary and reclusive Jerry has been heard in a series of award-winning radio commercials—but never seen—making his wax figure tribute a one-of-a kind attraction.

Since 1954, Jerry is famous for serving "The World's Best Cheesesteaks" at his namesake 100 Jerry's Subs & Pizza Locations. For the past 25 years, Jerry has been featured in over 300 spots, each featured with his trademark "Hello" and ending with the advertising textbook pneumatic device: the "Oooo…Oooo Jerry's" Signature Jingle. Hundreds of celebrities, real and faux, have been spoofed in Jerry's ads of the past two decades. Renowned, for being camera shy, two decades ago the ubiquitous Jerry appeared in a Television Campaign, with his back to the camera.

"From the stages of Hollywood to the corners of Main Street, Madame Tussauds celebrates icons of all types and this figure celebrates the legacy Jerry has built as a local entrepreneur and icon. We know his fans will love finally getting the chance to meet him, well in wax anyway, and will enjoy interacting and taking photos with the figure," said Dan Rogoski, General Manager of Madame Tussauds Washington D.C.

In addition to launching the wax figure of Jerry, Madame Tussauds and Jerry's Subs & Pizza will partner to cross promote their brands at each other's locations with special discount offers. Jerry's Subs & Pizza has developed a reputation as the premier franchise for "World Famous Cheesesteaks" and "Authentic New York Style Pizza." More than just a sandwich shop or just a pizza shop, Jerry's combines America's two hottest franchise concepts into one, providing a signature line of specialty cheesesteaks, and a menu of overstuffed subs, pizza and related food items that are both delicious and unique. Known for its creative, humorous and often off-beat radio advertising, Jerry's has nearly 100 locations throughout Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., Delaware and West Virginia.
