Cinnabon Raises $50,000 to Send Holiday Care Packages to Troops

"Hugs from Home" Campaign Supports Operation Gratitude

ATLANTA, GA --(Marketwire - December 14, 2010) - Throughout the month of October, Cinnabon executed a fund-raising campaign to send "Hugs from Home" to the brave men and women who protect this country.

For every dollar contribution to the "Hugs from Home" campaign, Cinnabon guests received a dollar "Cinnabuck" valid on their next visit. Guests also used the Twitter hashtag #cinnabonsaysthx to send tweets for troops. For every tweet, Cinnabon chipped in 10 cents to Operation Gratitude, for a maximum donation of $10,000. The result was a $50,000 donation to Operation Gratitude, an organization that sends care packages and hand-written letters to troops overseas.

"Operation Gratitude care packages are an expression of enormous respect and appreciation for those who voluntarily put themselves in harm's way to protect our freedom," said Carolyn Blashek, founder of Operation Gratitude. "The donation from Cinnabon will enable us to send more than 3,300 care packages this month."

Cinnabon teamed up with Operation Gratitude to send care packages that included Kellogg's® Cinnabon snack bars, Cinnabon Cream of Wheat™ from B&G Foods®, Cinnabon kettle roasted nuts from Mellace Family Brands® and Cinnabon candy canes from Spangler Candy®.

"We wanted to show our gratitude for the soldiers who serve and protect this country, so raising funds for a cause like Operation Gratitude and sweetening their care packages with Cinnabon treats was the least we could do this holiday season," said Kat Cole, Cinnabon COO. "Our franchise partners, bakery managers and crew members did an exceptional job of keeping the initiative top-of-mind with each guest interaction, and everyone showed their support. Serving others is what we do for a living, and having the opportunity to serve those who do so much for us is an honor."
