RAE: The Good Way to Avoid the Harmful Ray

Flip Flop Shops and Filtrate Unveil Exclusive Erica Hosseini Filtrate Eyewear Line

January 11, 2011 // Franchising.com // ATLANTA – North America's "Free Your Toes" retailer kicks off the New Year with big news for eyewear enthusiasts.

Flip Flop Shops, North America's first retail chain exclusive to the hottest brands and latest styles of flip flops, sandals, and accessories has partnered again with Filtrate Eyewear. Together the brands are teaming up with PRO Surfer Erica Rae Hosseini to bring consumers her signature eyewear line. Fit for surfing babes and chill, laid-back dudes, the new RAE line fits Hosseini's signature beachy, So Cal lifestyle and will be made available in all Flip Flop Shops locations in early-February 2011 in four colors, including: red, black, matte black and brown.

"Since bringing Filtrate Eyewear into our shops back in June, the brand has become a huge hit with our consumers from coast to coast," said Brian Curin (Size 10), the President of Flip Flop Shops. "Teaming up with Filtrate and Erica is huge! I'm stoked for the new shades and know consumers will dig the sleek style that is perfect for any occasion."

The RAE line offers oversized eyewear that is perfect for men and women who live a laid-back, casual lifestyle. The RAE styles also come with polarized polycarbonate lenses that block out 100 percent of all harmful UV rays, including: UVA, UVB, and UVC.

"Eye protection is a must, especially when you spend most of your day in the sun," added Hosseini (Size 10), who became the face and feet of Flip Flop Shops in November 2009. "Filtrate Eyewear is known to protect your eyes from harmful rays, without sacrificing style. For the RAE line, I wanted to create a style that would fit guys and girls alike and be a staple in any wardrobe."

Filtrate introduced its extensive line of fresh, fashionable sunglasses to North American consumers in 2010, with Flip Flop Shops being one of the first U.S. and Canadian retailers to carry the brand. Established in 2003 in Australia with the simple idea to create quality eyewear at an affordable price, Filtrate offers a vast range of sunglasses for men and women and the lifestyles they choose to lead.

"Flip Flop Shops found a major void in the retail industry for consumers wanting a one-stop shop to find the hottest brands and latest styles of flip flops, and have done a tremendous job filling it," said Wade Sutton (Size 10), the CEO of Filtrate Global. "We've enjoyed working with the company and watching the 'Free Your Toes' movement spread throughout North America. The RAE line was the perfect 'fit' for our partnership with Flip Flop Shops, and we look forward to building our relationship for years to come."

Bursting onto the retail scene in 2004, Flip Flop Shops quickly became North America's first retail chain exclusive to the hottest brands and latest styles of flip flops and sandals from such leading brands as REEF, Sanuk, Flojos, VANS, havaianas, OluKai, Cobian and O'NEILL, among others. Their mission: to provide the opportunity for anyone, in any climate, to

"Live…Work …Play With Their Toes Exposed®" while wearing the freedom of flip flops on their feet.

Today, Flip Flop Shops has locations operating throughout North America, including Canada and Hawaii, as well as the Caribbean and Guam.
