Builders Gain Stronger ROI With Superior Walls Foundations

February 07, 2011 // Franchising.com // NEW HOLLAND, PA. - Despite tough economic conditions throughout 2010, builders seeking strong return-on-investment for their new homes drove sales up at Superior Walls® of America. System-wide the company saw an increase of seven percent foundation jobs over 2009 nationwide, a strong indicator that despite challenging economic times, builders are investing in energy-efficient precast concrete foundations for their home projects.

"We find that once a builder has experienced the quality, speed and value of a Superior Walls foundation that they return to us repeatedly," says Jim Costello, president of Superior Walls. "Builders recognize the value of precast foundations. They help kick-start a new build while adding long-term value to a home."

Stronger 2011 Expected

Superior Walls licensees anticipate continued strength of sales in 2011 with precast concrete foundation systems. Most predict a 10 to 15 percent increase in area business with both new and repeat customers driving sales.

"We're looking to increase market share this year and anticipate new customers will drive our business," says Kale Walker, general manager of Superior Walls by Precast Concrete Solutions out of Illinois. "Builders are aggressively seeking top-quality products that offer fast solutions in the construction environment and can be transformed into strong sales for them. The Superior Walls foundations meet both these goals."

Xi Panels Lead in Sales

The most popular product sold by Superior Walls in 2010 was the energy-efficient XiTM precast concrete foundation system. The panels feature steel reinforced concrete and 2-1/2-inches of DOW® StyrofoamTM insulation to create a permanent barrier against sidewall water penetration. The panels are custom designed and constructed in a factory-controlled setting. Unique features of the Xi wall panels include:

  • -5,000+ PSI concrete
  • Steel-reinforced top bond beams, concrete studs and footer beams
  • Horizontal steel rebar inside top and bottom beams
  • Vertical steel rebar inside each stud
  • Access holes for ease in wiring and plumbing
  • Galvanized steel stud facing ready for drywall finishing
  • Insulated corners, studs and bond beams

"I've started many home projects with Xi wall panels and I'm never disappointed with the results," says Glenn Edwards, owner of Edwards Construction in Buffalo Junction, Va. "There's something almost magical about beginning the day with an empty lot, watching the panels arrive and then seeing the cranes put them in place. By the end of the day, the entire foundation system is finished and we're ready to start building."
