Ben & Jerry's Brings its Peace, Love & FREE* Ice Cream to the Streets of New York City

Social Media Provides NYC Hopefuls a Chance to Determine Where Summer Give-Aways Occur

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Holy Cow becomes Holy Roller! Sure Ben & Jerry's, the progressive ice cream company that has built its notoriety on super premium quality ice cream containing big swirls and chunks, with a solid foundation of activism at its core, is bringing free scoops of Ben & Jerry's to New York City, while supplies last. And what's more New York than taking it to the streets?

Ben & Jerry's Scoop Truck will tour New York City from June 17th through July 29th attending community events, non-profits, and even battling a few other local food trucks to help build awareness and raise support for a local food shelf. Some of the truck's scheduled stops in NYC include Macy's Fireworks on the 4th of July, Pridefest, Grand Central Station, the Cake Boss "Line" in Hoboken and visits to NYC fire stations every Friday. While giving away ice cream is nothing new for the irreverent ice cream maker, what is unique is that the good people of New York can help direct where the truck will go simply by plugging into the tour via Twitter and Facebook.

"It's cool that we get to bring our company spirit, social mission, and killer flavors on the road in New York," said Integrated Marketing Manager and tour ringleader, Jay Curley. "We're encouraging our fans to give suggestions where the truck should go by sending a tweet right to @BenJerrysTruck," Curley added.

The truck plans to feature some of this year's newest flavors and products, as well as a few tried and true classic flavors. The line-up will include: Late Night Snack inspired by Late Night with Jimmy Fallon – Vanilla bean ice cream, a salty caramel swirl & fudge covered potato chip clusters. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough – Vanilla ice cream with gobs of chocolate chip cookie dough. This classic flavor, invented by Ben & Jerry's more than 20 years ago, continues to be a favorite across the globe. Another favorite is Stephen Colbert's AmeriCone Dream - Vanilla ice cream with fudge covered waffle cone pieces & a caramel swirl. A long time pint favorite being served off the truck in minicups for the first time this year! The final flavor in the summer line up is Bonnaroo Buzz - Light coffee & malt ice creams with whiskey caramel swirls & English toffee pieces. This flavor, inspired by the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, is back by popular demand in Scoop Shops and now available in pints, too! All the flavors on the truck contain Fair Trade Certified ® ingredients like vanilla, cocoa and coffee.

So get online. Follow the truck @BenJerrysTruck on Twitter and check out Facebook.com/benjerry. Tweet the truck to see what you can do to bring the truck, loaded with free ice cream and good vibes, to your worthwhile community event.

NYC is not the only lucky city to be visited by Ben & Jerry's this summer; the truck has already visited LA and Miami and will spend time in San Francisco and Boston before the end of the summer. For more truck tour information visit www.benjerry.com.
