Fresh Coat Painters Franchise Opens in Wisconsin

Paul Archambault already owned a painting company when he decided that the best way for him to build upon his success was to purchase a Fresh Coat Painters franchise -- the first in Wisconsin.

Cincinnati, OH (PRWEB) Paul Archambault has brought Fresh Coat Painters to Wisconsin to serve residential and commercial clients in New Berlin, Waukesha, Pewaukee, Muskego and surrounding communities. As part of the launch of his franchise, he will participate in this fall's Milwaukee / NARI Fall Home & Remodeling Show.

Paul and his wife, Corrinne, bought the franchise even though Paul already owned a painting company because he considered it was the best way to ratchet his business into the next decade. He understood what needed to be done, but he didn't have the structure or the marketing to make it happen.

"I understood painting, the processes and the skills involved, and I enjoyed being out there with the clients, seeing the smiles on their faces when the job was finished," he said. "Painting is the cheapest, easiest way to refresh a room or to give a house a facelift and add equity to your property. What I found was that while I could get the bids, I couldn't gear up fast enough to meet the demand. I lost a lot of jobs. My company was profitable, but it wasn't going to grow."

Because he recognized some of the issues, Archambault said he knew what types of questions to ask when he decided to pursue a franchise. Fresh Coat leaders gave him the answers he was seeking.

"Fresh Coat demonstrated the importance of communication with clients and building relationships while also embracing technology that helps in providing the best quality and service," he said. "That's a great combination."

Bernie Brozek, president of Fresh Coat Painters, said Archambault had discovered first-hand the principals behind the Fresh Coat business model: Provide professional services and build long-term relationships.

"Paul's success was limited because he was trying to do everything himself," Brozek said. "We showed him how to use his talents to his best advantage and to hire painters to do the painting. We know from experience that our business model works very well not only for our owners, but also from their painters and, most importantly, their clients. They get the best skills of all involved."

The business model was a major factor in the Archambaults' decision to buy.

"Fresh Coat hires employees, not subcontractors," Archambault said. "I'd heard a lot of horror stories from people about the problems with subcontractors. Companies and franchises that use them are just trying to shelter themselves from dealing with clients. They offer cheap prices and cheap service, then disappear when the client is unhappy. Even worse, they may not pay the subcontractor, who then puts an $800 to $1,000 lien on the client's house. It can be a real disaster."

With Fresh Coat, he said, he can put his knowledge and experience to work to promote the business while his painting teams provide professional work for each client. "And those painters get health and dental benefits, paid time off, regular work schedules, even advancement opportunities."

Brozek said that Fresh Coat has found that the business model is especially appealing to employees.

"Painting is a high-demand industry, but there are way too many fly-by-night operators," he said. "Our painters like the stability of an organized, professional operation where they know they'll have work year-round. And, we help promote that stability through quality marketing, training and resource materials for our franchise owners."

Among those materials are several client assistance programs including a 24/7 call center, the proprietary EPIC estimating system, Paint Now-Pay Later 12-months-same-as-cash financing, Automatic Touch-Up for businesses, and fund-raising opportunities for charities.

"It is amazing how much time you can save with the EPIC system," Archambault said. "With it, we can give clients very accurate quotes that detail not only exactly how much time the job will take, but also how much paint and materials we will use. The price we give them includes all that, so they aren't going to be surprised with add-ons later. It's just one more way we can provide exceptional service for clients."
