Family-Oriented Beef 'O' Brady's Frachise Headed to California

Franchise of Family Sports Pub Reaches Milestone with First Golden State Location

August 18, 2011 // Franchising.com // Hesperia, CA - Game time is about to meet family time in San Bernardino County. Beef 'O' Brady's, the 213-unit franchise of sports pubs renowned in 23 states for its Buffalo-style chicken wings, state-of-the-art TVs and community-focused brand culture, announced today the signing of its first California franchise agreement in Hesperia, CA.

The new agreement, which was signed by Alvarez Group, is part of Beef 'O' Brady's mission to bring the brand into unchartered territories on the nation's West Coast. While Beef 'O' Brady's furthest West location currently resides in Colorado, the Tampa-based restaurant chain has signed franchise agreements in Arizona and Idaho in 2011 alone.

"California creates a world of opportunity for us, and we're on a mission to make Beef 'O' Brady's a household name throughout the state," said James Walker, Chief Development Officer of Beef 'O' Brady's. "While the franchisee signing in Hesperia was a remarkable, humbling milestone for the brand, we're confident that it's just the start of a much larger California development."

Beef 'O' Brady's recent franchisee agreement comes on the heels of a system-wide sales increase of 2.2 percent in the first half of 2011. Chris Elliott, CEO of Beef 'O' Brady's attributes the soaring sales to the brand's fresh initiatives such as a reenergized restaurant prototype, a new lunch menu that emphasizes quality, fast service and value and other menu rollouts. By 2016, Beef 'O' Brady's will boast more than 300 units.

"While we're poised for tremendous growth right now, we're more concerned about growing the brand the right way," said Elliott. "We take a careful, diligent approach to finding our franchise partners, and they must possess the business acumen and community-oriented values to grow with us."

The Hesperia restaurant, which is projected to open by 2012, will be built with Beef 'O' Brady's new prototype in mind, which includes new color and design elements to refresh the restaurant's appeal while catering to a wider array of casual diners. The Beef `O' Brady's of Hesperia will also feature large screen TVs, complemented by smaller screens for viewing from anywhere in the restaurant. It will also have interactive video games for children and a menu offering Buffalo wings, hand-breaded chicken tenders, salads, a variety of sandwiches and angus burgers and mix-and-match desserts.

In addition to the Hesperia agreement, the company is targeting several domestic and international markets for future development of the brand. Beef 'O' Brady's expects to open between 15 and 20 new locations this year, all of which will include elements of the new prototype.

Ironically, despite what its name implies, Beef `O' Brady's is best known for its Buffalo chicken wings. Originally, the chain's menu featured a variety of items that featured beef and a variety of sandwiches. Later, founder Jim Mellody added his own recipe for Buffalo chicken wings, making the restaurant an even "hotter" place to eat.
