Celebrity Demos, Drawings & Tools - All At Woodcraft
PARKERSBURG, W. VA. (September 2011) — Woodcraft is partnering with nationally known woodworkers and tool manufacturers to offer technique and tool demonstrations, top quality products, and the chance to win prizes at their Woodworking in America show booth. Scheduled for Sept. 30-Oct. 2, the show will be held at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center in Covington, Kentucky (across the river from Cincinnati).
Presented by Popular Woodworking magazine, the three-day event will bring together top craftspeople in two-and-half days of classes designed to help the 400 or so advanced woodworkers attending perfect their hand-tool joinery skills. Participants will also have the opportunity to meet other woodworkers, shop the Marketplace for woodworking tools from some of the best toolmakers, and compete in the Hand Tool Olympics. Woodcraft, Powermatic, Gorilla Glue, Shop Woodworking, and Lie-Nielsen Toolworks are event sponsors. For more information about the show, visit www.woodworkinginamerica.com.
Visitors to the Woodcraft booth can observe three woodworking celebrities in action: Tommy MacDonald, host of the public television show Rough Cut – Woodworking with Tommy Mac; Scott Phillips, host of The American Woodshop on PBS; and Rob Cosman, hand-tool expert who hosts several woodworking hand-tool DVDs and designs a line of premium hand tools. Tommy will build the pie crust tray to be featured on his Oct. 15 show, while Scott will demonstrate making bandsaw boxes. Visitors will watch Rob craft his signature hand-cut dovetails, as well as give pointers on sharpening and tuning hand planes. Scott and Rob will also do demos in the Shop Talk area of the Marketplace on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
Delta and Easy Wood Tools reps will be on hand in the Woodcraft booth to demonstrate their tools, while Woodcraft of Cincinnati owner Mark Miller will have a lineup of Woodcraft products to show and sell. Visitors can sign up for Delta and Woodcraft tool drawings. The Delta winner will receive a 12-1/2″ Delta variable-speed midi lathe worth $650, and Woodcraft will give away a WoodRiver Ultimate Bench Plane Kit (#3, #4, #5 and #6 planes) worth $550. Entry blanks will also be available to sign up for "The American Dream Shop Giveaway with Scott Phillips" to win over $10,000 in new tools and a trip in April 2012 to visit Scott Phillips on the set of The American Woodshop. Entries will be accepted through December 31, 2011.
"Woodcraft is pleased to join with Tommy, Scott, Rob, Delta and Easy Wood Tools to offer show visitors quality demonstrations, plus the opportunity to win prizes," said Jody Garrett, Woodcraft vice president of marketing and merchandising. "As one of the premier national hand-tool events, Woodworking in America is a great showcase for Woodcraft products."
