October 25, 2011 // Franchising.com // WAYNE, NJ – The Toys "R" Us Children’s Fund today announced it will award $1 million in grants to 54 nonprofit organizations supporting children in the state of New Jersey. The grants will be distributed to the selected charities by December 31 through the Fund’s statewide giving initiative, which launched in March. The grants will help to alleviate economic challenges and sustain organizations that favorably impact children across New Jersey, where both the Fund and Toys "R" Us, Inc. are headquartered.
Ranging from $10,000 to $25,000, the grants support a wide array of unique programs and services aligned with the Toys "R" Us Children’s Fund mission of keeping kids safe and helping them in times of need. More than 500 proposals were submitted for consideration for this New Jersey grant initiative. Funding was awarded to nonprofit organizations that demonstrated an immediate and specific need while directly impacting children in the state. As a result, kids in each of New Jersey’s 21 counties will benefit from this grant initiative through community-based and statewide charities.
