National Massage Therapy Institute (NMTI) Announces Partnership With Massage Envy, Expanding Employment Opportunities for Graduates

Massage Envy and National Massage Therapy Institute Launch Pilot Program, Offering NMTI Graduates Conditional Employment and Sponsorship

PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 2, 2011 // PRNewswire // -- The National Massage Therapy Institute (NMTI) is pleased to announce a new partnership with spa franchise giant, Massage Envy. The agreement marks the launch of an employer sponsorship pilot program that will benefit NMTI graduates in the pursuit of their massage therapy certification and state licensure.

This strategic alliance provides a unique opportunity for NMTI graduates to hone their skills with an industry leader as they prepare to sit for the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCETMB) and apply for a state license. The pilot program will debut in the metropolitan Washington, D.C., market, where Massage Envy will grant interviews to NMTI graduates. Selected candidates will receive conditional employment with Massage Envy, as well as employer sponsorship for the certification exam and state licensure.

"The National Massage Therapy Institute is truly committed to the success of our students, and we are proud of our relationship with Massage Envy, which further bolsters NMTI's reputation as a leading massage therapy school," stated Scott Deidun, NMTI's National Director of Career Services.

"In addition to providing a clean and safe retail environment for our graduates to perfect their massage skills, Massage Envy's national network of massage clinics serves as an example of professionalism that is in line with our teaching mission," said Deidun, who coordinated the alliance with Massage Envy executives Eric Barton, Regional Developer and Owner, and Winston Moore, Regional Operations Manager.

Massage Envy currently employs a number of NMTI graduates in its clinics throughout the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area, and Moore credits NMTI's school of massage with helping the franchise to expand. "That growth doesn't happen alone," he noted. "It's wonderful to be partnered with NMTI. Their graduates come here prepared for their job, and they understand the importance of a positive and professional culture. We hope to grow and evolve our relationship with NMTI. It really bodes well for us to choose the best of the best, and that's what NMTI has proven to be."

Candidates for state licensure are typically required to complete a formal massage therapy program and pass a national certification exam before they are eligible to work as practicing massage therapists. Depending on their choice of program, NMTI students may complete their massage therapy training in as few as eight months and qualify to sit for the NCETMB upon graduation.
