Corner Bakery Cafe Generates Support for No Kid Hungry(R) Campaign

Nationally-Recognized Cafe and its Guests Raise Funds to Help End Childhood Hunger, Achieve Company’s Largest Annual Donation Total to Date

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--With the help of generous guests across the nation, Corner Bakery Cafe helped feed the day by raising over $268,000 during the 2011 Share Our Strength’s Dine Out For No Kid Hungry®. A Share Our Strength® partner since 2008, Corner Bakery Cafe has donated over $500,000 in the last two years alone to the organization’s No Kid Hungry Campaign to end childhood hunger in America by 2015.

More than 116 million children in the U.S. – almost one of five – struggle with hunger. Through initiatives that include working with state and local partners, funding qualifying child nutrition programs like summer and afterschool meals and educating parents and children on ways to get the most out of strained food budgets, Share Our Strength works to make sure every child in America gets the food they need where they live, learn and play.

We localized a national movement and motivated our employees and guests in our neighborhood cafes to take action to support this deserving cause,” said Jim Vinz, president and COO of Corner Bakery Cafe. “Fueled by our guests’ generosity and sense of community, we reached our all-time highest donation of nearly $270,000 during the 2011 Dine Out For No Kid Hungry.”

Throughout September, participating cafes offered guests a free Whoopee Pie with a $1 donation, and a book of offers worth more than $30 for every $5 donation. Although this promotion is over, Facebook fans can still join Share Our Strength and Corner Bakery Cafe in the effort to end childhood hunger by visiting the Corner Bakery Cafe Facebook page and taking the No Kid Hungry pledge.
