Wyndham Rewards Offers Two Million Points for Your Horrible Holiday Gift

PARSIPPANY, NJ--(Marketwire - Dec 5, 2011) - For those fearful of an ugly sweater, tasteless fruitcake or other lackluster item gracing their holiday gift pile this year, Wyndham Rewards® is offering up "My Horrible Holiday Gift," a new contest that gives members a chance at trading in their less-than-desirable gift for two million Wyndham Rewards points or other valuable prizes including $50 and $100 gift cards.

Gift-giving (and receiving) has long been a point of contention in offices and families around the country. A recent poll by Wyndham Rewards found that thirty-two percent (32%) of Americans admitted to re-gifting their horrible holiday gifts, while seventeen percent (17%) say they receive their worst gifts from their in-laws.

"While the holidays are about spending time with loved ones, the reality is that people are disappointed when they don't get the gifts they'd hoped for," said Robin Korman, Wyndham Hotel Group senior vice president, Loyalty Marketing. "That's why we want to give our members a chance to flip the tables on their horrible gift and turn it into something that they really want."

Now through January 10, 2012, U.S. and Canadian Wyndham Rewards members who visit www.wyndhamrewards.com/holiday and upload a photo of their horrible holiday gift, along with a brief description of what makes it so bad, will be entered for their chance to win a grand prize of two million Wyndham Rewards points.

A team of Wyndham Rewards judges will pick five finalists from all eligible entries submitted. The public will then vote to select the grand prize winner. Finalists will be chosen based on: creativity, originality, popularity, and faithfulness to the idea. As an added bonus, finalists will each receive enough Wyndham Rewards points to redeem for a $100 gift card to the retailer of their choice.

Said Korman, "Whether it's 333 free nights at our hotels around the world, an $8,000 shopping spree to a favorite store or tickets to many of the best shows and sporting events -- with two million points, the possibilities are tremendous."

All entrants are encouraged to rate, comment on and share their favorite "Horrible Holiday Gift" submissions with family and friends through Facebook and Twitter. Online voting will take place from January 17, 2012 to January 23, 2012.

In addition to the grand prize and finalist prizes, five weekly drawings will be held throughout the contest in which all eligible entrants will be able to win a $50 gift card to a retailer of their choosing. Gift cards will be awarded in the form of Wyndham Rewards points.
