Calling all Veterans: TeamLogic IT Waives Franchise Fee for Qualified Military Veterans in 2012

Focused on veterans hiring veterans, national computer services franchise partners with CompTIA’s Creating IT Futures Foundation to support new franchisees through its IT-Ready Apprentice Program.

January 03, 2012 // Franchising.com // MISSION VIEJO, Calif. – With veteran unemployment rates higher than the national average and tens of thousands of service men and women returning from deployment, TeamLogic IT is awarding up to 10 franchises to qualified military veterans by waiving the $40,000 franchise fee.

The program is open to the first 10 U.S. military veterans who apply and qualify for a TeamLogic IT franchise between January 1 and December 31, 2012 through the International Franchise Association’s (IFA) VetFran program.* This $400,000 investment demonstrates the national computer services franchise’s commitment to supporting U.S. veterans through VetFran, a program designed to help veterans transition back to civilian life and explore opportunities in franchise ownership.

“The unemployment rate amongst veterans is already high and with so many more coming home, TeamLogic IT is committed to providing opportunities to our nation’s veterans to smoothly transition them into civilian life,” said Chuck Lennon, president of TeamLogic IT, who is also the vice chairman of CompTIA, a non-profit trade association advancing the global interests of information technology (IT) professionals and companies. “This new program will provide veterans with the tools, resources, and personnel necessary to launch and develop a TeamLogic IT business. It’s the least we can do for the men and women who sacrifice so much to preserve our freedom.”

Focused on “veterans hiring veterans,” this program includes a partnership with CompTIA and its Creating IT Futures Foundation to leverage its IT-Ready Apprentice Program, which will help these new franchisees hire trained technicians who are also military veterans. Additionally, the program will financially support franchisees by subsidizing all costs associated with technician recruitment, training, certification, and online mentoring.

In addition to meeting the regular franchisee requirements specified in the TeamLogic IT franchise disclosure document (FDD), all applicants must have a basic understanding and desire to work with technology, experience managing staff, general business aptitude, financial management experience and the energy and drive to succeed. The veteran must also possess a minimum of $70,000 working capital or qualify for $70,000 in third-party funding.

Interested veterans should visit the “Franchise Opportunities” section of www.teamlogicit.com, e-mail contactus@teamlogicit.com, or call Victoria Brox at 866-TeamLogicIT and identify themselves as a U.S. military veteran.

“In essence, the fundamental structure of the franchising industry and military is similar,” added Lennon. “Franchisees must follow a proven business model to thrive and military personnel are trained to follow standard systems to successfully complete a mission. The skills learned in the military are completely transferrable to the small business world—from logistics and operations to management and expertise—military veterans have the right framework to excel in the franchising industry.”

Veterans have a proven track record of success in franchising. According to a recent study based on U.S. Census data, there are more than 66,000 veteran-owned franchise establishments in the United States, providing jobs directly for 815,000 Americans. In addition, more than 2,100 veterans have become franchise business owners through the VetFran program, originally established in 1991.

TeamLogic IT’s veterans commitment stems from the IFA’s Operation Enduring Opportunity veterans hiring plan, which calls to hire and recruit 75,000 honorably discharged military veterans and 5,000 wounded warriors into franchising by 2014.
