Fresh Coat Painters Extends Services into Fort Lauderdale and Other Southern Florida Communities

With the launch of Fresh Coat Painters of Fort Lauderdale, owner Michelle van Dyk has added to her multiple business endeavors. As an investor, van Dyk says she takes an intellectual approach, and with Fresh Coat, she saw the opportunity to bring a new level of professionalism to the industry.

Cincinnati, OH (PRWEB) January 10, 2012 - Fresh Coat Painters has expanded its operations in southern Florida with the launch of Michelle van Dyk’s franchise to serve Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Weston, Sunrise, Coral Springs, Boca Raton, Pompano Beach and their surrounding communities.

For van Dyk, Fresh Coat is the most recent of a long list of entrepreneurial enterprises ranging from businesses involving music, fine food, yachting, personal training and more. The South African native said she pursues businesses with an intellectual approach, and as she explored home services, she was drawn to Fresh Coat because of its professionalism.

“When looking at franchises, you have to do your research and due diligence,” she said. “Some businesses are tied to a fad that comes in and leaves again. When I examined Fresh Coat, I liked its system and how everything was set up. As an entrepreneur, I look at lots of businesses. Ultimately, everything has to make sense, and Fresh Coat did.”

Bernie Brozek, president of Fresh Coat, said the company’s business model attracts professionals like van Dyk.

“Michelle’s business knowledge and previous success serve her well in this new endeavor,” he said. “She, like our other owners, understands that client service bolsters long-term growth. And our system prioritizes client service. Owners focus on marketing and promoting the business while our client service managers and painters focus on delivering quality work. Because each person focuses on what he or she does best, the client reaps the benefits.”

That commitment to clients drew van Dyk’s praise.

“We have a lot of con artists in Florida – people who arrive, do part of the job, then just leave and don’t return,” she said. “People have become skeptical, so it’s important to establish credibility and build a solid reputation for excellence.”

Because Fresh Coat hires employees, never subcontractors, its format helps to ensure that credibility, she said, noting that all workers are licensed, bonded and insured.

“I believe in doing extensive screening before I hire anyone,” van Dyk said. “I believe in ‘hiring right’ for the job, so that you don’t have a lot of employee turnover. You want people who want to be there because they’ll do a better job.”

Brozek said van Dyk’s observation has borne out through other franchise owners’ experience.

“We’ve found that painters primarily want to paint,” he said. “With our structure, they do just that, and they don’t have to worry about doing the paperwork or finding the next job. Our owners focus on that aspect of the job. Indeed, we’re set up so that our owners never pick up a paintbrush.”

That was good news for van Dyk.

“I don’t know one side of the brush from the other,” she said. “When I interviewed painters, I wanted people who were skilled and knowledgeable, time savvy and budget conscience. My first hire demonstrated all those things. He has been painting for 10 years, has a very structured approach, and looks forward to growing with the company. He’s exactly the type of person I want working for me and for my clients. Success stems from integrity, accountability and responsibility.”

Brozek said supporting franchise owners’ success is of paramount importance, and one of the ways the corporate office does that is through its client assistance programs. Among those are a 24/7 call center, proprietary EPIC estimating system, Paint Now-Pay Later same-as-cash financing, Automatic Touch-Up for businesses, and fund-raising opportunities for charities.

“Being part of an organization with dozens of locations across the country does bring a lot of benefits for an owner and for clients,” van Dyk said. “It increases our buying power, expands the knowledge base, and boosts the marketing opportunities. These days that may be the biggest factor. You can be a fabulous painter with all the necessary tools, equipment, licenses, ethics and experience, but if no one knows who you are, you still won’t have any business.”

van Dyk said she has found that clients most appreciate the financing options of a larger organization.

“As an independent, I might not be able to provide it, and in Florida’s market, that can be essential,” she said. “Realtors tell me that they can sell a home much faster if it’s been painted, and our terms make it much easier to do. Again, it’s all about service. There’s no need to exceed client’s expectations. You just have to do the job and, like the Fresh Coat logo says, do it right. That’s my goal. I want my clients to be so happy with the job that they tell all their mates.”
