H&R Block Launches Android Tax Filing App, Extends Free Filing Offer

Only H&R Block Offers a Mobile App With Totally Free Tax Return Filing

KANSAS CITY, MO, Feb 29, 2012 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) --H&R Block (NYSE: HRB) today released its Android tax preparation filing app and is extending the industry's only fully free mobile filing offer for tax filers. The H&R Block At Home(TM) Android and iPhone smartphone apps are free to download and offer a free simple federal and free state tax return through April 17.

Using the smartphone app, filers can easily complete a federal 1040EZ and state return by photographing their W-2 to automatically import data into the app. Generally, a 1040EZ filer is a single or married taxpayer who does not itemize deductions, has no dependents and earned less than $100,000 last year.

In addition to the 1040EZ form, filers with more complex tax returns can complete a federal 1040 or 1040A form on the iPad tablet app at no cost all season. The smartphone and tablet apps all feature:

  • Free audit support and representation
  • 100-percent accuracy guarantee
  • Maximum refund guarantee

For a full explanation of these guarantees, see http://www.hrblock.com/why-hr-block/our-guarantees.html.

"We've seen such a strong interest in our mobile filing products that we're pleased to continue offering the only entirely free mobile filing app for federal 1040EZ and state tax returns using our iPhone and newly available Android apps," said Jason Houseworth, H&R Block's president of digital tax solutions.

H&R Block's tax professionals provide guaranteed tax return preparation services in-person at retail tax offices open year-round and through Block Live(SM), the only face-to-face online tax preparation experience available in the industry. Do-it-yourself filers benefit from the expertise and guidance of The Tax Institute at H&R Block(R) when using H&R Block At Home(TM) on their computers, tablets and smart phones. Because understanding taxes is an integral part of managing personal finances, H&R Block keeps the conversation going with clients all year via blogs, tweets and Facebook status updates.
