WSI Max Social Makes KOKI-TV the Go-To Station during Recent Storms
New weather app gives Tulsa-based broadcaster fast, easy access to user-generated content.
Andover, MA (PRWEB) April 11, 2012 - WSI (Weather Services International) today announced that Fox23/KOKI-TV’s use of WSI Max Social during regional March storms and flooding enabled the station to create broadcasts that incorporated immediate, interactive content from viewers during the weather emergency.
To learn more about Max Social, come to the WSI Booth #SL6313, South Hall Lower, at the 2012 NAB Show, Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas, April 16-19.
“WSI Max Social is fantastic. I love it,” said Andrew Kozak, Fox23 Meteorologist. “The combination of its great functionality and easy, interactive usability makes for exceptional output and the best quality weather pictures. It just takes a few clicks to incorporate user-generated pictures or multimedia into a broadcast. It’s also extremely user friendly. A broadcast meteorologist can become a Max Social expert very quickly. During the recent severe weather, we were able to use Max Social to develop graphic-map-display-info on-the-fly in a matter of minutes.”
With a target of accelerating the growth of their social media audience, broadcasters are using Max Social as a quick and easy way to send information to and receive information from their online followers. Max Social, developed in collaboration with SocialNewsDesk, is a new, secure, interactive weather application enabling broadcast meteorologists to send forecasts and receive user-generated content quickly via Facebook and Twitter. Max Social allows station meteorologists and viewers to exchange information, pictures and videos through social networking. It is the only social media solution designed specifically to help newsrooms monetize social media and increase engagement with their viewers.
“Max Social takes a station’s weather franchise to the next level. It enabled Fox23’s on-air weather team to connect directly and continuously with its audience, especially during the recent tornado and storm events, when the quick sharing of information was so important,” said Bill Dow, Vice President and General Manager, WSI Media Division.
WSI’s Max Social is a new addition to TruVu Max, WSI’s comprehensive weather presentation platform for broadcasters. It works on three levels. First, it quickly and easily enables broadcast meteorologists to upload and post important weather updates to Twitter and Facebook. Second, it allows a station’s meteorologists instant access to pictures, reports, comments and videos that their Twitter followers and Facebook fans have posted about a current weather event. Finally, it enables the weather team to send this compelling user-generated content back to the station’s Web site, Facebook pages and Twitter account, as well as incorporate it into their on-air weathercasts.
