New Mover Marketing Franchise Awards Territory to Franchisee of the Year
Our Town America’s Jess Damiani and Heather Wahl Receive Rare Gift, Valued at More than $40,000, at Recent Annual Convention

Some offer monetary incentives, such as a bonus for their performance or an all expenses paid vacation, and others create programs that provide their most profitable franchisees with perks and benefits others don’t receive.
This year, however, Our Town America has done something few, if any, franchisors are willing to do. During their most recent annual convention, Our Town America’s CEO, Michael Plummer, announced they would be awarding a new territory to their franchisees of the year, Jess Damiani and Heather Wahl, for free. That’s right – a new territory, valued at $47,500, for free and a couple of Our Town America branded watches, both valued at $1,000, as an added bonus for their hard work.
“We do things differently at Our Town America,” said Plummer. “This is the first convention we’ve been able to host since 2009 and Heather and Jess earned franchisee of the year honors for all three of those years, not just last year. A trophy or plaque just wasn’t enough to celebrate that achievement and show them how much their hard work and dedication means to us.”
Damiani and Wahl, both Philadelphia-based single moms who co-launched an Our Town America franchise in the summer of 2006, were speechless and honored when they were informed of the new territory. However, they said they weren’t surprised because Plummer and his team make similar gracious decisions to support and applaud franchisees each and every day.
“Heather and I were sitting next to a franchise broker at the time of the announcement who said, ‘wow – franchisors don’t do this stuff,’” said Damiani. “I’m sure most franchisors don’t, but Michael and Our Town America, do. Like his father who started the company, he treats each franchisee like we’re part of the family and this unbelievably gracious gift is just the most recent example of that.”
According to Plummer, Damiani and Wahl are perfect fits for the new territory because they have proven experience sparking relationships between new movers and Greater Philadelphia area businesses. In fact, since joining the Our Town family more than five years ago, Jess and Heather have been the most successful in the network, bringing on an average of 100-150 new sponsors per year. As Plummer said himself, that made the decision a no-brainer.
“Most franchise executives would be afraid to make a move like this because they fear it would hurt them financially,” said Plummer. “But the way I see it, I’m reinvesting in my company by giving two of the most talented people we have in the system an opportunity to grow the business in a new and viable market. Honestly, this new territory isn’t a gift, they earned it, and I’m confident they’ll stop at nothing to make Our Town America a success in that market.”
