Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) April 30, 2012 - Massage Envy Phoenix, a Co-Op of 27 massage clinics and part of the nation’s largest therapeutic massage provider and spa chain, is celebrating its 10 year anniversary. The first Massage Envy clinic opened in Phoenix at Shea and Loop 101 a decade ago. Today, the Phoenix Massage Envy Co-Op has grown to 27 Valley locations – covering the metro Phoenix area from Surprise and Glendale to Tempe and Chandler, and everywhere in between.
When the first Massage Envy clinic opened, there were just a handful of employees – now the Phoenix clinics have more than 1,000 therapists, estheticians and staff working to create relaxing and stress-free experiences for its guests. To date, more than 63,000 members have joined the Phoenix Massage Envy locations.
Massage Envy has propelled the growth and consumer interest in massage therapy by being among the first to provide professional, convenient and affordable massage services. In 2007, about 8.3 percent of American adults used massage, which was up from five percent in 2002, according to a National Health Statistics report. Today, there are more than 745 Massage Envy clinics in 44 states – with the first one originating at Phoenix’s Shea location.
“Many of our members and guests recognize the positive effects of therapeutic massage and have incorporated regular massage into their ongoing wellness routine,” said Steve Cook, Massage Envy’s regional developer in Arizona. “Massage can be instrumental in helping maintain good health and achieving a balanced lifestyle.”
In addition to massage services, nearly all of the 27 Phoenix Massage Envy clinics have converted to Spa models, meaning they also offer four signature Murad Healthy Skin facials. The Valley’s first Massage Envy Spa opened in Gilbert at the end of 2009. To date, the local Massage Envy clinics have performed nearly four million massage and facial services.
Recent studies mirror Massage Envy’s outlook and have shown the benefits of massage go beyond the feelings of relaxation people often feel immediately following a massage. Research has shown massage therapy can help reduce levels of the stress hormone, cortisol, increase white blood cells to help battle infection, lower heart rate and blood pressure, increase endorphins, relieve constricted breathing, boost energy levels, manage chronic pain and much more. With consumers visiting massage therapists at least 150 million times a year, it is evident that more Americans are beginning recognize the powerful impact massage can have.
In addition to providing massage and spa services to its members and guests, the Phoenix Massage Envy Co-Op also makes it a priority to give back to its community. The Co-Op has been active in raising funds for nonprofits through Massage for the Cure, Healing Hands for Arthritis, Phoenix Children’s Hospital and many other local community events and causes.
The Phoenix Massage Envy Co-Op looks forward to continued growth and expansion. For Massage Envy locations in the Phoenix area, call 602-992-ENVY(3689), visit MassageEnvy.com or Facebook.com/MassageEnvyAZ.
