Kiddie Academy Sheds Light on Educational Child Care Industry

New Infographic Examines the Industry, Trends and What's to Come

BALTIMORE, MD--(Marketwire - May 1, 2012) - To celebrate their 20 years in franchising, Kiddie Academy created an infographic that examines the growth of the educational child care industry, the factors that influence the need for their services and trends to watch.

The child care industry is consistently growing as the number of working parents increases, along with their preference for higher-quality child care focused on education and early childhood development. As a result, this business is on a rapid rise, as more and more parents opt for the superior services of a child care learning center over a conventional preschool.

Some factors influencing the industry include:

  • More than 11 million children under the age of 5 are in some form of child care every week
  • 58% of those children are in a center or full time preschool
  • The most important factors when choosing a child care are:
    1. Safety
    2. Learning environment
    3. Cost
  • The population of children age 5 and younger is expected to continue to grow -- 21 million age 5 and under by 2015!

"With a focus on education and early childhood development at the core of Kiddie Academy, we are recognized as a pioneer within the industry. As the demand for a center-based educational setting in child care grew, we've been able to build upon and further develop our proprietary curriculum, services and business model, instead of having to redefine ourselves to meet this need," said Greg Helwig, president of Kiddie Academy. "After decades of continued success, it's exciting to see a forecast of more growth. We are looking forward to the future."

Two key trends predicted to grow within the child care industry are the continued focus on educational programs within the child care centers and an increased presence of technology -- both for parents and students.
Kiddie Academy sets itself apart with its branded, proprietary Life Essentials® curriculum, which is based on four pillars of education:

  1. Developmentally appropriate educational practices
  2. Character education
  3. Technology education
  4. Health and fitness.

Through Life Essentials, Kiddie Academy teachers are able to support each child through critical stages of cognitive, social, emotional and physical development. Life Essentials curriculum is only available at Kiddie Academy locations.
