AdviCoach® Suggests Ways to Optimize the Search for Your Business Online

SOUTHBURY, CT--(Marketwire - May 31, 2012) - In today's fast-paced world, people are using some form of technology to shop for what they need these days. Whether they are using a mobile device or a desk-top computer, Brian Miller, COO and president of AdviCoach®, says for a business, one of the most important things a business owner can do is to make his or her business easily found by optimizing the business' online presence.

"It's no longer acceptable to simply have a web presence, as it was just a few years ago," says Miller. "Business owners need to become internet savvy in today's competitive online landscape because customers are now using the search engines as their primary source of local business information -- and not the printed Yellow Pages."

According to a report conducted by TMP/comScore:

  • Sixty-six percent of Americans use online local search, like Google local search, to locate local businesses.
  • Eighty-two percent of local searchers follow up offline via an in-store visit, phone call or purchase.
  • Sixty-one percent of local searches result in purchases.
  • Seventy-three percent of online activity is related to local content (Google).

According to Miller, one very popular way to enhance the chances of being found in a local search is by creating a profile on Google Place Page. "Google, as the organizer of much of the world's information, is now in the business of organizing the world businesses, optimizing local searches for the consumer. To date there are over 50 million business profiles listed on Google Place Page," Miller added.

However, Google is not the only social media option for connecting your business to a local search by consumers. Both Facebook and Twitter allow businesses to be listed and localized. For most of these online marketing approaches, a business owner needs to fill out a profile of basic service offerings, payment options, store hours, videos and most importantly, according to Miller, supporting the option of listing reviews.
