Bruegger’s Bagels’ Summer Menu Features Classics with a Twist

June 14, 2012 - Bruegger's Bagels, with 300-plus locations across the U.S., will add some sizzle to the summer with limited-time-only menu additions that offer a new twist on old favorites. The summertime treats are available from June 20 through Sept. 18.

For a fresh summer sandwich, Bruegger’s took a classic bagel spread – lox and cream cheese – and the flavors of an American sushi standard, the California roll, to create its newest item, the California Roll Smoked Salmon Sandwich. Served on a sesame bagel, the sandwich features cucumber, smoked salmon and avocado with Bruegger’s wasabi cream cheese.

“We tested the California Roll Smoked Salmon Sandwich in two of our markets and our guests raved about it,” said Bruegger’s Executive Chef Philip Smith. “They loved the fresh taste combination and unexpected Asian flavor of our wasabi cream cheese that makes this sandwich unique.”

Bruegger’s, known for its 15-plus fresh-baked bagel varieties, also brings back an old-time summer favorite on June 20, Bruegger’s Pretzel Bagel. Taking its cues from hot soft pretzels served at ballparks throughout the summer, the bagel combines the crunchy salt topping and dark caramel color of the stadium favorite with the flavor and texture of a Bruegger’s authentic, New York-style bagel. The bagel is perfect as a snack with a side of mustard or as the base for a breakfast or lunch sandwich.

Those who prefer something sweet will love the return of the Chocolate Chip bagel to Bruegger’s bagel lineup. Served warm or cold, plain or with a savory cream cheese, the Chocolate Chip bagel is always popular when it makes its seasonal return.

“All of our guests have their favorite bagels and bagel sandwiches,” said Bruegger’s CMO Scott Colwell. “We love to add a new twist to add even more craveability to our menu, and this summer’s limited-time menu delivers.”

Bruegger’s headed to the dessert tray for the inspiration of its featured summer coffee flavor, Kahlua. The non-alcoholic coffee flavor mimics the classic after-dinner drink and is made from shade-grown, hand-picked coffee beans and sugar cane. Bruegger’s Kahlua coffee can be ordered either hot or cold, as an Iced Coffee Cooler or a Brueggaccino flavor.

For those who prefer more traditional fare, Bruegger’s will add a crowd pleaser to its menu this summer – the Better Cheddar Egg sandwich. This slant on a breakfast standard, which has been a regional favorite for years, features egg, cheddar cheese, bacon, and light herb garlic cream cheese served on a plain bagel.
