Wiggin and Dana Lawyer Appointed President of the Connecticut Defense Lawyers Association
June 25, 2012 // Franchising.com // New Haven– Wiggin and Dana is pleased to announce that Jim Craven, a lawyer in the firm's Litigation Department, was appointed President of the Connecticut Defense Lawyers Association (CDLA) for a one year term beginning on June 21, 2012. The CDLA is a volunteer not-for-profit, statewide organization of attorneys licensed in the State of Connecticut who are primarily engaged in the defense of individuals and businesses in civil litigation, or who serve as counsel for insurance carriers and business organizations.
Jim has served on the CDLA Board of Directors for a number of years and last year was its First Vice President. In his role as President, Jim will continue the organization's efforts to improve the civil justice system, as well as increase the skills, effectiveness and professionalism of defense lawyers in the state.
As a member of Wiggin and Dana's Litigation Department, Jim's civil litigation practice includes defending clients in connection with product liability claims, complex personal injury and professional malpractice matters, and commercial disputes.
Jim grew up in Newtown, CT and now lives in Madison, CT. Jim received his J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law cum laude and earned his B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Dickinson College. While at Dickinson he played four years of college soccer, was captain and MVP of the team, and was selected for the All Conference team. Before joining Wiggin and Dana, Jim served in the United States Army Judge Advocate General's Corps, where he completed airborne training and served as a Senior Trial Counsel. Jim was awarded the meritorious service medal for his military service.
