Fresh Coat Painters Expands Texas Operations Into Austin, Cedar Park, Round Rock, Leander

After evaluating several different franchises, Karen Wagner opted to launch her own Fresh Coat Painters franchise in Austin, Texas, because she saw the need in her community and the potential for her success.

Cincinnati, Ohio (PRWEB) July 24, 2012 - After raising her children, Karen Wagner decided it was time to focus on her own future, and that future would include owning a business. With the launch of her Fresh Coat Painters franchise in Austin, she is making that future a reality.

“It was not a decision I took lightly,” she said. “I understood how important infrastructure and support are to business success. I knew I wanted more flexibility in my life while being able to structure my days to be productive. I looked at a lot of options. Some required extensive evening work or major upfront investments. With Fresh Coat, I could start out working from home and build up my clientele. And I’ll have the satisfaction that comes from seeing a project from beginning to completion.”

Wagner began extensive evaluations of nine different franchises in December before quitting her long-time position with Dell in April and starting her new business weeks later. Wagner said she considered the Fresh Coat structure encouraging because it fulfilled real needs in the community and provided steady employment for quality workers. With the launch of her business, Fresh Coat Painters continues expansion across Texas.

Bernie Brozek, president of Fresh Coat, said the company welcomes the scrutiny of professionals like Wagner.

“Like our other owners, she understands that running a painting company isn’t just about painting,” he said. “It’s about the client’s entire experience, from the initial phone call throughout the project to the follow-up. By building quality relationships with clients, they’ll continue to use the services and recommend them to their friends and family members. It’s the foundation for our owners’ long-term success.”

“Everyone needs painting sometime, whether they’re moving, want to change colors or they want to spruce up their current home,” Wagner said. “Of course, a lot of us have relatives who need assistance in maintaining their homes. And every business owner knows that the appearance of an office makes an impression on clients and potential clients, as well as on employees. Painting affects everybody.”

Wagner knew immediately that she had made the right decision. She said that she met people who wanted to sign a contract with her even before she was open.

“When I explained our structure, people were impressed,” she said. “We hire our own painters and don’t use subcontractors. We do background checks and provide insurance and bonding. It’s a unique approach in the industry and one that’s appreciated not only by clients, but also by the painters. It’s allowed me to recruit multiple quality applicants and hire excellent, local people. My client service manager has 25-plus years of painting experience working with high-end operations and leading crews. Another painter has construction experience, so he’s my go-to guy if someone needs minor repairs before we can paint.”

As a 17-year resident of Cedar Park, Wagner said she was pleased to provide employment opportunities to residents in her franchise territory of Austin, Cedar Point, Round Rock, Leander and other communities of Travis and Williamson counties.

Brozek said the company’s business model sets it apart from competitors.

“Painting attracts a lot of fly-by-night operators,” he said. “We’ve found that quality painters want to work for us because we can provide them with steady employment, allow them to use their skills, and provide them with opportunities to build better futures for themselves and their families. They give our clients excellent workmanship on time and on budget.”

Wagner said the business model is complemented by Fresh Coat’s commitment to owners through their training, marketing and resource materials. Among those are a 24/7 call center, proprietary EPIC estimating system, Paint Now-Pay Later same-as-cash financing, Automatic Touch-Up for businesses, and fundraising opportunities for charities.

“The EPIC system has been especially appreciated,” Wagner said. “I’m able to provide a breakdown of every component of the job complete with costs and time frames. It demonstrates professionalism, like our workers arriving on time, doing the job well and cleaning up afterwards.”

As part of her launch, Wagner will have a booth at the Austin Home & Garden Show Aug. 17-19.
