TGA Premier Youth Tennis Brings Additional After-School Sport to Peninsula Valley, California

Local Youth Sports Franchisee Adds Tennis to His Already Successful Golf Programs

August 17, 2012 // Franchising.com // Redwood City, Calif. – TGA, one of the country's fastest growing youth sports franchise companies, continues to expand its newly formed tennis program nationwide. Chris Dawkins of Peninsula Valley, Calif., has acquired one of the new TGA Premier Youth Tennis franchises.

Earlier this year, TGA announced its new tennis initiative in partnership with the United States Tennis Association (USTA) and already the company is creating business ownership opportunities and jobs from coast to coast. TGA Premier Youth Tennis impacts youth and grows the sport of tennis through a school based programs model.

Dawkins, who has operated a TGA Premier Junior Golf franchise since 2009, recognized the opportunity to grow his business and impact even more children by adding tennis to his school-based programs.

“Chris is one of TGA’s multiple franchise owners. His passion and drive to develop youth through school based sports programs makes him a leader in our organization,” says Joshua Jacobs, chief executive officer of TGA.

“Year after year, Chris continues to expand his TGA businesses by reaching more students and schools in his community. We are very excited to have Chris add tennis to his program and grow school based tennis programs in Northern California.”

Building on its development of the only national after-school junior golf program in the country, TGA took its school-based business model and enhanced it with a tennis model and proprietary USTA/TGA tennis curriculum. The tennis program enriches students’ lives through physical activity, health and nutrition, education and character building.

TGA Premier Youth Tennis of Peninsula Valley will grow tennis at elementary and middle schools, child care centers, and community organizations through a multilevel teaching program. It will then transition them to camps and clinics at local tennis facilities along with USTA leagues and tournaments.

Dawkins, who was born and raised in Redwood City, Calif., has been part of TGA since 2008 when he was working full time with TGA of North San Diego. He now owns two San Diego franchises, along with Peninsula Valley Golf and Tennis. In addition, Shelly Bauer, a San Diego native and former TGA coach since 2011, works closely with Chris as the territory director for all three franchises. Together they have developed very successful and consistent after-school youth sports programs from San Diego up to the Peninsula Valley.

“Adding a TGA Premier Youth Tennis franchise in the Peninsula Valley has been great so far as schools that ran our successful golf programs, have embraced tennis as well. I have always had a passion for tennis, playing recreationally with friends and family, so it was a natural fit for me to add tennis to Pen Valley programming,” Dawkins explains.

Dawkins' TGA tennis franchise is already operating several after-school programs in the Peninsula Valley area this fall and more schools are scheduled to come online throughout the school year. He is also working with the local USTA section to train instructors for the program.

Together, his tennis and golf programs will impact over 3,000 youngsters in 2012.

“Golf and tennis are the perfect pair to grow in tandem and I am excited to offer an affordable and convenient option for families to introduce their children to these two popular sports. Both programs offer similar life skills and character development lessons,” Dawkins says.

TGA’s sports franchises, which run the leading school-based youth golf and tennis programs in the U.S., are geared toward motivated self-starters who are passionate about the sport, their community and who enjoy working with children. Each franchise offers not only business ownership and job opportunities in the industry, but also unique ways to grow the sports.
