The Little Gym Introduces Parent/Child Dance Classes and WonderKids Club Program for 2012-2013 Season

Beginning Ballet Steps, Extended Learning Time Add to The Little Gym "Serious Fun" Curriculum

SCOTTSDALE, AZ--(Marketwire - Aug 21, 2012) - The Little Gym, the experiential learning and child physical development center for ages 4 months through 12 years, is adding two new classes to its core curriculum that will enable some parents to take their first ballet steps together with their children and give other parents some time to "step out."

The two new classes, Jazzy Beasts and WonderKids Club™, are being added to the "serious fun" curriculum that is taught each week at more than 300 The Little Gym locations worldwide. Jazzy Beasts is an engaging music- and dance-oriented parent/child class designed for 2-year-olds that gets parents dancing and moving alongside their children. WonderKids Club™ is a three-hour enrichment program for children ages 3 and 4 that extends The Little Gym experience while giving parents some free time.

The Jazzy Beasts class combines the best elements of ballet, creative movement, dance, and gymnastics. Children and their parents spend half of each class learning introductory ballet steps, and whirling and twirling in solo, group and partner dances. For some parents, they will have the unique experience of performing their very first arabesque right alongside their child in The Little Gym class. The second half of the class is spent in the gym working on complementary gymnastics and physical skills for the children like balance and coordination.

The WonderKids Club adds to The Little Gym experience for preschool-aged children by providing a three-hour, interactive learning experience, structured play session and exploration of their innate sense of wonder. Each WonderKids Club session combines The Little Gym gymnastics class with instructor-led immersive play, arts and crafts projects, creative songs and story time that all reinforce the week's Learning Unit and theme. The three hours of supervised learning provide parents with an opportunity to take some time for themselves.

"Our philosophy at The Little Gym is that physical activity is a conduit for learning," said Bob Bingham, President and CEO of The Little Gym International. "In our Jazzy Beasts class, parents and children have the rare opportunity to learn introductory dance and ballet moves together. With our WonderKids Club, we have built a three-hour experience that incorporates each of the phases of our 'three-dimensional learning' approach, from physical development to problem-solving to leadership activities."

Jazzy Beasts and WonderKids Club™ are available at select locations. For more information and to find a local The Little Gym, please visit www.TheLittleGym.com.
