Buffalo Wild Wings Gears up for the Gridiron

As season kicks off, Buffalo Wild Wings launches new ad campaign and promotions.

MINNEAPOLIS - September 4, 2012 - (BUSINESS WIRE) -Team members at Buffalo Wild Wings® are gearing up for game days as the biggest season of the year kicks off. Football season has traditionally been Buffalo Wild Wings busiest time of the year. Whether it’s college, professional or fantasy, Buffalo Wild Wings is the place to gather to watch all the gridiron action on any of the restaurants’ many big-screen televisions.

“Football fans know that there’s no better place to share in game day excitement than Buffalo Wild Wings,” said Sally Smith, Buffalo Wild Wings CEO. “There’s a reason this is our busiest time of year: the energy and camaraderie rivals the stadium atmosphere and together with hot wings and cold beer – it’s an unbeatable combination.”

Protecting the football

Football fans know the importance of protecting the ball on the field, but protecting the football takes on another – and just as important – meaning when fans gather to watch their favorite teams. When every game matters, true fans can’t afford to miss a second of the action, and where they watch the game makes a big difference. That’s the theory behind Buffalo Wild Wings’ new integrated advertising campaign, which launched Sept. 3.

“We know that game time is serious business and we’ve all had a less than ideal viewing experience at one time or another,” said Kathy Benning, Buffalo Wild Wings executive vice president of global marketing and brand development. “Our new campaign has some fun with those scenarios while reminding fans that at Buffalo Wild Wings, football is viewed the way it should be.”

How about a Bowl for those wings?

Earlier this summer, Buffalo Wild Wings announced that in addition to being the place to watch college bowl games, the company will be hosting a bowl game as the title sponsor of the Valley of the Sun Bowl. The Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl matches the third selection from the Big 12 Conference and the third or fourth pick from the Big Ten Conference, and will take place on Dec. 29 in Tempe, Ariz.

Billed as a bowl game for the fans, Buffalo Wild Wings hopes to bring the Buffalo Wild Wings experience to Sun Devil Stadium. “We’re always looking for new and exciting ways to interact with our guests,” Benning said. “This bowl game gives us that opportunity in a big way.”

A promotion kicking off in September extends the “protect the football” theme and will bring fans to the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl. When football fans gather at Buffalo Wild Wings between Sept. 3 and Oct. 21, they can share photos demonstrating how they “protect the football” via an application on the Buffalo Wild Wings Facebook page. Each week, fan photos will be judged and the winning photos will be shown in restaurants on televisions. Guests submitting those winning shots will receive prizes.

One lucky finalist each week will win a trip for two to attend the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl. Of the seven weekly finalists, one will be selected to participate in a photo shoot to appear in an advertisement in Sports Illustrated magazine.
