ColorTyme Appoints Debbie Romero as New Director of Purchasing

October 12, 2012 // Franchising.com // PLANO, Texas – ColorTyme, Inc., the nation’s first franchisor of independently owned-and-operated rent-to-own stores, announced today the hiring of Debbie Romero as Director of Purchasing.

“The success of our franchisees is the No. 1 goal of ColorTyme’s brand, and Debbie will be an important piece in achieving this goal,” ColorTyme COO Fred Mattox said. “I look forward to working with Debbie to continue to improve our purchasing operations as we plan for the company’s ongoing growth plans.”

Romero comes to ColorTyme from Rent-A-Center, where she most recently held the position of Senior Director of Strategic Merchandising Initiatives. She started her career in the rent-to-own industry in the 1990s as a sales associate and was promoted to store manager within 10 months.

After taking over the role of Merchandise Manager, she oversaw the suppliers and product lines for the company as it grew to over 2,000 locations. During this time, Romero managed the pricing for products, helped create a paperless ordering system and implemented a co-worker purchasing program for the company.

In her time as VP of Purchasing and Merchandising, she set up the supply chain for Rent-A-Center’s Canada locations and was on the team to launch the RAC Acceptance program, among many other new systems and programs she helped to bring about.

“Debbie’s talent and many years of experience at Rent-A-Center will be a huge asset for us,” said ColorTyme CEO Cathy Skula. “Our ability to bring someone of her caliber to ColorTyme is yet another example of our parent company’s commitment to our long-term success.”

Romero, who joins ColorTyme following the retirement of Rhonda Davis, will work out of the company’s corporate headquarters in Plano, Texas.
