Le Méridien and Air France Present A Photographer’s Journey: A Discovery of Details from Takeoff to Turndown

Le Méridien and Air France Reunite to Launch a Digitally Curated Photography Exhibition with Renowned Photographer Jimmy Cohrssen

NEW YORK - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Nov. 7, 2012 - Le Méridien and Air France today announced A Photographer’s Journey: A discovery of details from takeoff to turndown, a photography exhibition with celebrated international photographer Jimmy Cohrssen to be curated online exclusively by fans of the two brands. The interactive exhibition launches online today at www.aphotographersjourney.com with never-before-seen photographs of Cohrssen’s journey through culturally rich cities and resort destinations such as Istanbul, Shanghai, Bora Bora, Tahiti and Paris, and will run through November 23.

A Photographer’s Journey, inspired by Le Méridien and Air France’s shared commitment to the arts, cuisine and culture, offers a rare opportunity for travel enthusiasts to play a part in curating the final exhibition to be unveiled in New York City on December 11. Air France and Le Méridien, which was founded by the iconic French airline 40 years ago, will populate the online gallery with Cohrssen’s photography weekly around the themes of Style, Voyage and Art de Vivre. Fans of both brands are encouraged to ‘like’ their favorite images and engage with the galleries through a custom Facebook application. The top thirty photos will then come to life in the final exhibition. Increased engagement with the online galleries also gives fans a chance to win a pair of Air France Economy class tickets and 100,000 Starwood Preferred Guest points to use toward a photographer’s journey of their own at any one of the global destinations Jimmy visited.*

“In this new era for Le Méridien, we are proud to reunite with Air France to creatively connect with our brand loyalists and inspire curiosity amongst new audiences,” said Brian Povinelli, Global Brand Leader, Le Méridien and Westin. “This innovative program captures the fundamental brand values of both Le Méridien and Air France – a commitment to the arts, cuisine and culture; three essential tenets that have not waivered over the past 40 years.”

“Travel is all about the experience and personal discoveries along the way,” added Patrick Roux, Senior Vice President, Air France and KLM for the Americas. “By tapping into an artistic talent like Jimmy, who can showcase the details of our brands, we can inspire the curious, creative minds and invite them to embark upon their own personal journey around the world, where Le Méridien and Air France are their guides.”

Jimmy Cohrssen, the newest member to the LM100, brings over 25 years of experience and an innate eye for design, having worked for numerous publications and luxury clients. Selected by Jérôme Sans, Le Méridien Cultural Curator since 2006, LM100 is a group of international innovators chosen from the worlds of art, architecture and cuisine who use their creativity to develop original, interactive programs that transform the Le Méridien guest experience.

“Words can't really capture the awe, inspiration, aromas, tastes and smooth cotton sheets of the whole experience,” said Jimmy Corhssen “I had one month and ten flights to show the world how dazzling these two giants of luxury travel are, and I’m hoping that through this unique exhibition, I’m able to offer fans a glimpse into this once-in-a-lifetime experience.”

The interactive photography exhibition goes live with 35 exclusive images today at www.aphotographersjourney.com. All consumer-generated votes and comments will be tabulated to curate the final traveling exhibition to be unveiled in New York City on December 11 followed by a stop at Le Méridien Arlington on December 18. In addition to the traveling exhibits, a selection of Jimmy’s photographs will be featured at select Le Méridien properties and Air France lounges next year.

About Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts

Le Méridien, the Paris-born hotel brand currently represented by 100 properties in more than 40 countries, was acquired by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE: HOT) in November 2005. With over 80 of its properties located in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific, Le Méridien provided a strong international complement to Starwood’s then primarily North American holdings at the time of purchase. Since then, Le Méridien has gone through a brand re-launch, which included a large scale hotels product consolidation as well as redefining its brand strategy. By appointing a full-time Cultural Curator – French arts-provocateur Jérôme Sans – Le Méridien transformed numerous guest touch points, thus bringing unique and interactive experiences to its guests. Plans call for dynamic expansion of Le Méridien Hotels and Resorts within the next five years, concentrating in the U.S., Latin America, and Asia-Pacific markets, including destinations such as India, Thailand and China. Le Méridien recently opened new hotels in Istanbul, Oran (Algeria), Arlington (Virginia, USA), Coimbatore (India), Koh Samui (Thailand), and Taipei, and will open in the next 12 months in Bali, Zhengzhou (China), Mahabaleshwar (India), Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam), Cairo (Egypt), Tianjin (China), and Dhaka (Bangladesh).
